Very disappointing checkout experience.

After selecting my ingredients and handing them to the counter, the cashier automatically added a 20% tip without informing me.

The cashier moved very quickly, and there was no verbal notice, no screen prompt, and no request for consent before the gratuity was applied. I only noticed it after checking my receipt.

This is not acceptable, especially for a self-service style restaurant. Tips should never be added without clear communication and customer approval.

Please be cautious and check your receipt carefully if you dine here.

Update: The business response focused on pointing out that I shared similar feedback on another platform, rather than addressing why the checkout experience felt confusing and rushed. I rarely leave reviews and do so only when an experience is genuinely problematic. Repeating that “nothing is added automatically” does not change how the process was experienced as a customer. Feedback shared across platforms should be taken as a signal to review the process, not to dismiss the concern.

It’s located within the food court. You can pick any ingredients you want. Soup is spicy and authentic with great flavor, highly recommend!

The food is pretty good, and its always fun when you can pick your own ingredients. The only reason I didn’t give it a full five stars for “food” is because there are only 2 different flavors for the soup that gets added to your chosen ingredients, and both of those are a little spicy for my comfort. If you like spicy soup, this place will be your jam!

We walk in on saturday, when our table was ready. It was packed but our table was already notified in yelp.
However, when i came in the waiter still ask me to wait and let 3 ppls came after us in. I ask him why and he said their table got cancel but they reserve before us? I DONT GET IT. Then he said ok i’ll let u have table 5, ok no problem. Then we finish with taking our food which is kinda scam, the bowl was so heavy but they did not deduct the weight of the bowl out, so the price when sky rocket when there barely any food there. After that, i found out the table he was gonna gave to us, there people that still eating and chatting around. WE HAVE TO STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RESTAURANT WHEN THE RESTAURANT WAS SO PACKED. Then he kept moving our table around until he can find a table where people about to leave. Overall it was so chaotic, unprofessional and pathetic, wasted money for a horrible experience. This restaurant was already open for more than a year and it seem like they don’t know how to run it still.

Not sure if this is standard for the chain or because it’s a food court location, but there were quite limited options for ingredients and broth. $14.99/lb as of September 2025 puts it at par with other malatang places. It’s fine if you’re really craving, but there are better standalone options elsewhere.

The mellow spicy mix (one with no soup) is so delicious. The ingredients are fresh too. 2nd time coming back.

Food was pretty good and for a pound, reasonable price. Food selextion feels a bit low. I didn’t see a spoon though to help drink the broth. Chopsticks were lower quality than other places. I’m pretty sure I found a frog leg in my broth and didn’t put it there.

My food was ready but the sign did not update so I did not get it and waited about three more minutes.

Really solid-for mall food, this is great. A little bit on the expensive side, but you do get what you pay for so definitely reasonable. Ingredients are fresh, selection is actually very solid despite looking like a small location, and workers are nice there. It does take awhile for mall food though, since they cook it to order-in a perfect world you’d order then go to Dick’s to pick something up and go back for your food. Still, a very solid four stars and probably 4.5 if that was an option.
