There was a time when this place mattered. When the steam rising off the plates felt earned, when the food came out swinging—loud, unapologetic, full of the kind of swagger that made you forgive chipped plates and sticky floors. Back then, you came here hungry and left humbled, a little sweaty, and very happy.

Now? It feels like a ghost of itself.
The menu is the same on paper, but the soul has quietly slipped out the back door. Dishes that once crackled with heat and intent arrive timid, under-seasoned, going through the motions. Sauces taste diluted, like someone’s been told to stretch them just a little further. The wok, once a weapon, now feels lukewarm—going through the choreography without the fire.

This isn’t bad food in the catastrophic sense. It’s worse than that. It’s forgettable. The kind of cooking that suggests shortcuts, cost-cutting, and a kitchen that no longer eats its own food with pride. You can almost hear the collective sigh of cooks who know what this used to be capable of.

And that’s the real heartbreak. Because this restaurant carries history. You can feel it in the room, in the regulars who still come out of habit, chasing a memory. But nostalgia doesn’t season food, and reputation doesn’t cook dinner.

I wanted to love this place again. I really did. But wanting isn’t enough. Food has to mean something—especially Chinese food, which lives and dies on balance, heat, and respect for technique. Right now, this place is coasting on its past.

Come if you’re curious. Come if you remember what it once was. Just don’t come expecting that same old magic. That fire? It’s still somewhere—but it’s not in the kitchen anymore.

It had been years since I ordered from Yeung’s House and I was craving Chinese food. So I stopped there and got spring rolls, boneless spare ribs and happy family. Sadly, I have to say that was some of the worst Chinese food I’ve had in a while. The spring rolls were soggy and greasy like the oil they were fried in wasn’t hot enough. The spare ribs were dry and tough. They were the consistency of jerky. The happy family was extremely salty and it had green peppers in it. I don’t remember happy family having green peppers in it and I’ve had it from quite a large number of restaurants. It’s safe to say that I will not be returning to this restaurant. A waste of money and very disappointing.

We have been looking for a Chinese restaurant that uses no MSG and would cater to food allergies like gluten and dairy free. Called the restaurant and Jade was friendly and willing to help adjust ingredients so that we could have no gluten. They also use no MSG which is a plus.

We had called around many other places in the area and they either used MSG sauces or would not allow adjustments on ingredients.

We got to the restaurant and Jade greeted us and again was very helpful. We placed our order and sat down, we could hear the food being made in the wok in the kitchen and about 10 minutes later our lunch came out steaming hot.

The taste was great with lots of meat and veg in the dishes. We had enough left over for dinner later. We really like Chinese food and so glad this place in Westview is willing to help us so that we can enjoy the food.

We have found probably the best in the area with great service, high quality ingredients and reasonable prices.

The house special Mei Fun was packed with chicken, shrimp and pork. The Young Chow chicken fried rice was very tasty as was the pork egg roll and the wonton soup.

Everything was top quality and had that wok taste and char on it. This is a great Chinese restaurant and our favorite.

Absolutely lovely people, unlike the surrounding “food” places, Yeungs House legitimately knows how to take orders and prepare food to your satisfaction, I’ve been disappointed by the 2 pizza places nearby that I wish this chinese food place started serving pizza!

I visited in November of 2022.

Yeung’s is a dive located near Westview, not far from Pittsburgh, PA.

Parking situation was bad. Only one other customer was in there waiting for her take out and yet all of the parking spaces were occupied!

Dining area is closed to the public. Two tables remain for those waiting for take out or for the rare people who want to eat there.

I ordered my food and then waited at one of the tables. I audibly said, “Ew. Gross.” Tables were dirty. Stains, crumbs, handprints, and smears on the tables. It looks like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks.
Doors and windows were dirty as well. All around, not clean.

Food was edible but slightly less than average. I ordered the lunch General Tso’s chicken with wonton soup. General Tso’s was not served with broccoli. Soup did not have green onions. No frills and no thrills.

Lunch specials are under $9 so that’s not bad considering the high costs of literally everything right now.

Thank you for always being so kind to my elderly parents that frequent your establishment. Food is always excellent! Orders are quickly fulfilled and are impressively packed and bagged to ensure your meal arrives home without spills. This place goes the extra mile! Happy to have such a great place in the neighborhood!!!

House/Combo Fried and a pork egg roll is my go to meal and what I always try first at a new dining spot. The fried rice itself was very favorable, however the shrimp was not fresh and was actually slimy. The pork egg roll was colorless inside, the cabbage and pork looked pale and lifeless. It did not taste fresh either. The staff was pleasant but I would not order from here again.

The wind shut down restaurants due to power issues. That didn’t stop them! They were kind, they were not complaining due to the extra business close to closing time. All smiles and good services. I’m glad my normal Chinese restaurant was closed and forced me into their hands! Note I’m never going back to my old restaurant. Yeung’s House is now my new go to because their food is better (didn’t even know that was possible). P.S. shout out to the man taking orders because he remembered who ordered what and it was busy!!!!!
