I try and find local “mom & pop” places while traveling. This was by far my favorite place I visited, the few days I was in town! When I walked in, it was obvious based on the amount of people that were already seated and eating, this place was going to be good. I was greeted by a very nice woman, who is a daughter of the original owner(s), and she couldn’t have been nicer. She made me feel welcome immediately. The food and coffee was delicious. I had biscuits and gravy, with two eggs and bacon. Very good, filling and comforting on a rainy chilly morning. All for a reasonable price too. Thank you Seria and family, I’ll definitely be back again, bet time I’m in town!

We stopped in for breakfast while headed home on a multi-state road trip. The lovely woman was doing it all herself and was still friendly and offered mushrooms in our haystack because we can’t have meat.

We eat there when we get down to Metropolis and just love the breakfast and love the burgers for lunch and the fried chicken is the best! We enjoy the service and the waitress is a joy! It is our go to! We always come back!

I ordered a chef salad, from the outside of the plastic container it looked great. As I started to eat it the salad tasted sour. Then I dug out more salad that was wilted, smelly and definitely not ok to eat. I was so disappointed. I called the restaurant they said I could bring it back for a refund or they could make another one. I got there with the salad and one of the women said she opened the salad bag that morning and it was fresh. She tried to start arguing with me but wilted and spoiled salad is just that. Finally I got my money back.

This is one of those places political correspondents will visit to get local flavor and opinions before an election. At first we were going to complain that the waitresses seemed to be spending an awful lot of time on the phone… But it turned out that one of their long-time regulars, a 90-year-old man, had not shown that day, and they were trying to track him down to make sure he was okay. Talk about service above and beyond!
