Overall, I really loved my experience here, and it’s easy to see why locals flock to it. The lunch AYCE menu alone offers far more variety than most places. They even had some of my usual favorites that are often missing elsewhere—beef ribs, oishi pressed torched sushi, and kani salad—all of which were solid highlights.
The cooked dishes were especially impressive. The stir-fried items, like the mushroom beef and shrimp, were packed with wok hei and deep umami flavour (probably MSG, which I’m totally fine with ). The beef and shrimp were both remarkably tender and well-seasoned. They also have really excellent ribs (grilled to perfection – crispy outside and tender inside, while well marinated with a tangy sweet sauce on top), fried squid, and shrimp ball. These are all must orders.
What really surprised me, though, was that Ye’s didn’t fall into the typical AYCE trap: great cooked food but mediocre sushi. Here, both were strong. The pressed sushi was fresh, flavourful, and thoughtfully done, making it one of the standout parts of the meal.
Dessert was another pleasant surprise. Fried milk, fried bananas, mango pudding, ice cream, and choux were all available. The mango pudding and fried items were excellent; the only miss for me was the choux, which was a bit dry and bland.
The only downside is that the restaurant is quite old, and I could tell that it could use some renovations.
I’d definitely come back the next time I’m in Waterloo—especially to try their dinner menu and see if the quality holds up.
From seaweed salad to tempura. Sashimi to Maki rolls, sushi to dessert everything were very good. Very good from an all you can eat standard. Sake was kept warm and the tea pot kept the tea warm for the entire meal.
Food came very quick. Servers were quick to collect empty plates. They don’t talk much but it doesn’t bother us at all. We will go there again.
Service was very fast on a weekend and the servers were nice
Their service and food are always great no matter the time of the day.
Their food is always amazing, fresh, and delicious. Even my 5 year old son loves and enjoys their food.
If you are looking for a great Sushi restaurant, Ye’s Sushi is the place to be.
Lots of options available on their menu.
The service overall was unfriendly and rushed. No one checked on us, and it felt like we were an inconvenience just for being there. The food itself was mediocre at best—rice was dry, rolls were loosely made, and the fish didn’t taste very fresh. For the prices they charge, the quality is nowhere near what it should be.
I’ve come here multiple times with my family, and it’s always been our last option when other places are full. After this visit, I don’t think we’ll be coming back at all. If you want good sushi with better service and value, go to Kinkaku Izakaya instead.
skewers, pad tai, cheese wonton (which had cream cheese inside) I didn’t like it. For dessert we ordered the green tea ice cream, chocolate cake and cream puffs. We had a good time and left feeling full and satisfied.
The menu was extensive, offering a delightful array of sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. Each dish was beautifully presented, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients. The sushi selection included classic favorites like California rolls and spicy tuna rolls, as well as creative specialty rolls that featured unique flavor combinations.
One of the standout features was the quality of the fish. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the rice had the perfect texture—sticky yet fluffy. The option to order from the menu rather than buffet-style allowed for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience, as I could take my time to savor each bite.
The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. They were quick to refill drinks and check in to see if I needed anything, which added to the overall positive vibe.
For dessert, the green tea ice cream was a perfect way to round out the meal—creamy and not too sweet, it complemented the savory flavors of the sushi wonderfully.
Overall, Ye’s All You Can Eat Japanese Sushi is a must-visit for sushi enthusiasts. The combination of fresh ingredients, a diverse menu, and excellent service makes it a standout destination for a delicious meal. I can’t wait to return and try even more from their enticing menu!
