Yen Ching Restaurant is a Beautiful looking restaurant in the corner of a strip mall. There’s a Happy Buddha statue, a water fall, plum & cherry tree art, decorations are classic Chinese designs. There is a Kind, attentive staff. There are Big Khoi Fish in a pool in the front. The food was so good that I didn’t notice them till on the way out!
If You are in Tacoma / Lakewood don’t miss this place!
Food was excellent.
Hot, fresh, lots of fresh vegetables and proteins:beef, chicken seafood.
I got spicy squid, green beans with beef, shrimp fried rice, triple ingredient soup, egg roll and Fried Banana.
Everything was delicious- flavorful but not too heavy.
The waitress was very kind and friendly.

My husband’s favorite place to eat . We’ve eaten there quite a few times and they never disappoint. We had the Sweet and Sour Shrimp and the Happy Family entrees. Mine had a combination of chicken, scallops and shrimp with vegetables and the seasonings were well balanced . Tender and delicious. The shrimp’s sauce was light and not overbearing, not chewy. It was all served with a large bowl of sticky rice. Jasmine tea added a bit of moisture to our meal. The prices are reasonable. Service was fast, but we were there between lunch and dinner so there were not many dinners.

This is a wonderful place with a romantic setting. The music in the background is soft and reminds me of a lullaby which was the only thing I didn’t like about the setting. My waitress was amazing and attentive to our needs. The food was pretty good, although our bowl of rice seemed a tad bit undercooked. The portion sizes weren’t too bad though and the prices was reasonable. This place would make a nice date night for couples or big groups. Lots of seating available for groups of all sizes. I recommend going here at least once if you live in the Lakewood surrounding area.

Hands down this is the best Chinese restaurant in Tacoma! The food is always fresh, hot, delicious, visually appealing and plentiful. The owner and his daughters are absolutely amazing. They are so kind, generous and always willing to accommodate me and my family with special dishes because, yeah, my family is extra like that. I’ve had several of the menu items and I’ve never been disappointed. My daughter is the picky eater in the family and she loves the food from here. Anywhere that I can buy food from and have her not complain gets 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ in my book. Give it a try; you won’t be disappointed.

1st trying this place and omg the food is amazingly good. The beef Mongolian was so tender the almond shrimp were fresh and no seafood aftertaste they were prepared perfectly. The chow mein you can taste the freshness of the veggies. Portions are big prices are reasonable. Will be returning they have alot of selections on the menu.

I have continually ate at Yen Ching since about 1981! And server Frank there has been graciously providing the best service by a waiter there since I think 1983 about! If you LOVE mu shu pork, this is the best: the only problem is here you love it so much that when you try it somewhere else, if like myself, you are really dissatisfied with the other places sauce and compare it to Yen Ching. The cocktails especially Mai Tai are soooo good. Now being in our late 60’s we also appreciate the smaller combo meals that we still can’t finish usually! Thanks server Frank servicing me for about 43 years and doing so perfectly checking back, etc! We almost NEVER have chinese food anywhere else as having eaten here maybe 150 times why not go to the best and be happy! DONT SKIP MU SHU PORK! It’s the BEST!

Ordered Mongolian Beef & Sweet and Sour Pork. Came with a large Chinese takeout box of Jasmine rice, 2 fortune cookies. It was delicious & still hot. I will be ordering more from this restaurant. Price wasn’t bad either, compared to other Asian Restaurants.

Update for September 4th 2023
*Went to visited today and got our normal but we decided to add Mongolian beef to give it a try. Food was great as always and we were getting ready to leave and a person in our party decided that they were going to leave a small tip so we go to get up after we’ve filled out our credit card paper and the lady decides to slowly come near me and whisper at me saying that normally we add 15% tip automatically to your bill, but we haven’t been doing that to you the last couple times we’ve been here. I looked at her and I told her well. It’s not mandatory for us to tip and that we just wouldn’t be back there. This is all even after she was already given a tip. Let’s needless to say it. She wasn’t happy with what she was given and she expected us to give her more so now they just lost our business
With our standards, this place is amazing, almond chicken is the best in the city, the fried rice and noodles are amazing and the egg foo young was good. The environment was nice and colorful. Will definitely be back again.

We have been going here for decades. And we absolutely think it’s one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Food is always consistent, and fresh, they can use a remodel. But we know it’s tough out of here. Definitely got to try it.
