The food looks good but tastes.. ok. The rice was really good and I like the spring roll but my general tso chicken was soooooooo chewy. I ordered off DoorDash for pick up lunchtime $15 special. I thought it was a good price, but I see why.

This restaurant is a fantastic place to spend a quiet afternoon with a partner, co workers, or even the family. Stop in and enjoy the fountain, live plants, deep quiet. Try a drink like a Drunken Sailor, whew, that will take the edge off, huh? There is a great menu and besides all the entrees, Yen Ching has the best egg rolls on the planet. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and eager to be of service. After dinner, swing over to the Grand Market, wow! But that is a different review. Bon appetit.

After reading reviews from multiple sources, I got the impression this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. I ordered over $100 worth of food for my family not including delivery fees and tip. Hoping to have a weekend full of good Chinese food. Maybe we caught them on an off day because everything we ordered was bland-not even seeming to have salt and every dish tasted the same. They all lacked sauce and the defining flavors of dishes we are familiar with. The dishes labeled spicy had no spice or much flavor whatsoever. The quality of the meat was bad. The thickening agent added to the meat (cornstarch?) could be tasted in 3 meat dishes. It was tossed. Very disappointing.

I’ve had a lot of Chinese food in my life and the meal I had tonight was one of the best I’ve ever had. The shrimp toast appetizer was fantastic. My main dish was a “Chef suggestion” item, “Crown of the Sea”. Wow, just wow is really all I can say. It is definitely one of the very best dishes I’ve ever enjoyed. The flavors were very well balanced and the cook was excellent. Juicy shrimp, fresh chicken and plump, tender scallops. I encourage you to give it a shot if you are in the area. The service was prompt and attentive their the course of my meal. The decor is a little dated for me but the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing.

I had a very disappointing experience with Yen Ching. I found a bug in my food and called to inform the manager, expecting a sincere apology or at least some concern. Instead, I was met with indifference. The manager (Wayne) didn’t seem to care and even told me that if I went to the doctor, “insurance would cover it.” This was my first time ordering from them, and it will definitely be my last. The lack of accountability and poor customer service were extremely unprofessional. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant.

Went here on Easter! The staff was very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was very peaceful with warm colors. I got the Crispy Honey Shrimp which was probably the best dish at the table! My sister thought her Shrimp Chow Mein was okay, but not enough flavor. A big shoutout to the Hot & Sour soup! It was so good and helped clear out my sinuses! My mom got some type of beef dish with PERFECTLY cooked asparagus. My dad ordered a decked out dish with 3 different meats. He thoroughly enjoyed it. Good portions! We had to take a bunch home with us.

Absolutely disgusting! the chicken was soooo salty, sauce was so thick and bland it was unreal. The chicken had an odd chewy texture to it. Egg roll was so greasy bit into it and it was like water came flying out of it! When calling up there the worker literally hung up the phone… not to mention are you serving microwaved rice???

$17 for 15 pieces of General Tso’s chicken on a bed of lettuce (??) and a bowl of cold rice. And the “hot pepper sauce” on the General Tso’s wasn’t even spicy. The chicken was crunchy however and served warm although it would have helped if they served it on the rice instead of lettuce. The waitress was nice but only spoke to my boyfriend and only checked on us once. She did take care of our leftovers in takeout boxes.

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend or go back just for the price and quality. I can’t recommend cold rice and over a dollar per chicken nugget covered in the least spicy GT sauce I’ve ever had.

Tried this place because of the reviews, have to say was not disappointed with what we ordered. Restaurant is kinda cool inside, the deco if very unique. So we started with the pupu platter because we wanted to try both the Rangoon, shrimp toast which was highly rated and the eggrolls. It also came with chicken wings and some beef on stick as well as short ribs. Wings were ehh as well as the Rangoon. Shrimp toast was great and lived up to its ratings, the short ribs were excellent and the egg rolls tasted very fresh and tasty as well. We shared the generals chicken again based on reviews, it was fantastic.. probably the best of I’ve had since living in Virginia. Be aware that as ordered it is not white meat but we opted for white meat which was $1 up charge but it was worth it! Super tasty! Disappointed in the fried rice side that came with it, the rice tasted a bit old and the texture was definitely off. Lastly the pork Lo Mein.. it was also very enjoyable however I would get it without mushrooms next time it kinda threw off some bites and I feel like it was canned mushrooms vs fresh. All in all I would definitely recommend a stop, staff were friendly food was filling and very tasty. We will come again.

Overall, the atmosphere was excellent here. We went on a Sunday at 11:30 am. We were seated right away by a very friendly host. The waitress arrived quickly with water. Our drinks took about 5 minutes to arrive and our food arrived quickly after that. The restaurant crowd built quickly. There were 2 servers and the host so it seemed a bit busy for them. Our food arrived and was plated nicely. The temperature was warm, but not hot. The flavors were very good. The chicken was cooked well, but the veggies were under done, but I can look past the crunchy onions, carrots, a green peppers.
Overall, nice place and flavorful food, a tad under staffed and rushed. Very reasonable price for the amount of food. We will come here again.
