Very good food I enjoy it very much. Just one server for lunch and a server assistant. The server looks like she doesn’t enjoy her job. She never smile and she moves around very slow. Still the timing is good for a lunch service. I ask for fried rice and I got steam rice. I brought it to the server attention and she told me it was fried rice. They have no music, it was very hot inside. Looks like the A/C was off

We had a party of six at Yen Ching and the experience was excellent. The service handled our group well, and the food was delicious across the board.
The Standouts:
-Sizzling Rice Soup: An absolute must-order. It’s light, flavorful, and the presentation of the “sizzle” never gets old.
-Szechuan Chicken: Perfectly balanced heat and savory notes—the chicken was tender and well-seasoned.
-Spicy Braised Chicken: Bold, rich, and definitely hits the spot if you love authentic spicy preparations.
-Pad Thai Noodles: A great addition to the table that everyone enjoyed; the noodles were cooked perfectly.
If you’re looking for high-quality, authentic Chinese cuisine in STL with a welcoming atmosphere for groups, Yen Ching is a top-tier choice

I had not been to Yen Ching in many years. On Christmas Eve my family decided to go for dinner. When we arrived we were told they weren’t doing sit down -only takeout. So tonight (Friday 1/9) we went back to try again. We arrived at 8:20 pm. The restaurant’s hours were until 9 pm. When I arrived and asked for a table for 3 the employee at the front did not smile or greet us- she just looked annoyed and had us follow her to a table. Approximately 3 minutes after handing us the menus she came back and asked us what we were ordering, still seeming annoyed. I asked if we could have a few more minutes. When she came back and we ordered she told us that all the food (appetizers, soup, main course) would all be brought out together because “we close at 9.” While we were waiting for our food employees were removing linens from the other table and cleaning up. We felt uncomfortable and rushed. Granted, the food was very good, but for the prices they charge we should not have been made to feel like we had to gulp down our food. Very disappointed in the service!

This is my favorite chinse restaurant. The food is great, and the servers are very attentive. It seems a bit pricey, but the flavors are worth it.

I always have the Seafood Sizzling Bowl. The rice is prepared in toasted, crisp waffer like chunks that compliments the shrimp, pee pods, and slivers of beef.

It is in a busy location across from the Galleria Shopping Mall. There is off street parking available just south of the restaurant. If you exit behind the buildings, there is a stoplight for an easy left turn on Brentwood Avenue.

Came in today at 1pm tried to order pot sticker appetizer and was told they don’t have them for lunch, ordered Yen Ching Beef lunch special and within an hour was in the restroom. Very bad experience!
Never had problems in the past, however, I will not be back.

The price of the food does not match the quality. Crab Rangoon (6), shrimp fried rice, chicken lo mein for $60. Flavor was average – can find better for under $30 elsewhere. If you’re wanting quality Chinese in the area that is worth the price, I suggest Mai Lee or Corner 17.

Came in not knowing what to order, asked for a recommendation that was spicy but also savory. They recommended the teriyaki chicken. It was delicious, also a very big portion (picture is about 1/3 of the total food)

Extremely good customer service throughout my dining experience.

Really fast service as well

Food was pretty good. Crab Rangoon, Pot Stickers, Sesame Chicken & Yen Ching Beef was $69.35. The prices were 70%+ higher than on the Yelp menu. Be sure and go to their actual website for prices so you are not surprised. Also for almost $70 they only gave us 3 packets of soy sauce and 4 of sweet and sour sauce so be specific on how many you want.

We ordered the BBQ spareribs, Yen Ching chicken and Red Pepper Fish. The dinning room was nice, the service was good as well. They don’t have many choices for drink, and the food is kinda pricey comparing with other Chinese restaurants. However, the chicken was over fried, so it was too dry and hard. It should be better. Hope they will put more vegetables into dishes.
