Nice place for experiencing Yemeni cuisine. The food was extremely savory, flavourful and yammy, specially the beef gallaba. Also, had the khatla dessert. It’s similar to peanut halwa, so creamy and nutty.. And the ambiance is nice and clean. The staff are very polite.
Only complaint is that, the food took a long time to be prepared, but when it came it seemed worth the wait!

Food was delicious, we started with a Fahsa(lamb in a skillet) that comes with really nice freshly baked bread. Also had a combo plate of rice with lamb and chicken, and another fahsa, was very nice. Great service. Would recommend.

Absolutely phenomenal food!! We got the platter for four. All of the meat was falling off of the bone and the rice and vegetables were perfectly seasoned. Everything was perfect, even the salad and the bread! Favorites around our table were the toum sauce (the white sauce) and the Fahsah stew. They also brought us some of the best tea I’ve ever had. Thank you Yemen Cafe!!

Experience varies from person to person. In my experience, this restaurant is terrible. The meat was chewy like gum, the service was extremely slow, and the rice pilaf was tasteless. They didn’t even give a knife to cut the meat. In my opinion, don’t waste your money — it’s not worth it.

I used to come here all the time when I worked in Hamtramck at the GM plant. Extremely nice people running the joint, always friendly and in a good mood.
I liked to order the chicken shawarma sandwich. Really good, very flavorful, nice crunch from the pickles. The garlic sauce is also very good, you can put it on nearly everything here and it really enhances it. Love to enjoy a shawarma sandwich with lamb soup and Yemeni tea on a cold Michigan winter’s day. Or late at night after having one too many drinks around town.

One of the best Yemeni food in Michigan.Portion size is huge.We ordered lamb haneeth & beef gallaba with hummus,lentil soup & flat Yemeni bread.Everything was delicious except the rice,it was a bit undercooked.But the lamb was very well seasoned & tender.Price was reasonable compared to huge quantities.Only downside I would say is the parking.

Honestly, this place is solid. The hummus was super smooth and flavorful, and the fresh bread they served with it was perfect. I also had the bean dish — full of flavor, a little spicy, and topped with fresh herbs. Everything tasted homemade. Chill spot, good food, and the service was quick. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

I’ve been here several times and have never had a bad meal, but didn’t really get the hype until my last visit. Maybe I just wasn’t ordering the right stuff before, but my last visit I was blown away! We got the Yemeni bread with honey butter- I liked this much more than the plain Yemeni bread. We got the lamb haneeth and shish tawook entree and both were cooked perfectly, so tender and flavorful. The fries are double fried and so crispy. The Yemeni tea is addictive, you have to try it. I think their entrees as opposed to their sandwiches is where Yemen Cafe really shines, so I recommend sticking to that part of the menu.

Food is delicious. Atmosphere is hospitable. If you are visiting for the first time, parking is limited and quality of surrounding roads isn’t great. The community is safe. I removed two stars because the service was not very good.
