Such a cute ice cream shop with soft serve and Dole whip flavors that may vary. I had a peppermint soft serve hot fudge sundae. Yum!
They also offer yummy chicken salad and pulled pork options, plus hot dogs and nachos. Well worth the quick detour off of I-57.

So today I finally had time to stop by this great place! I had pulled pork nachos and cheese. They offer sour cream and jalapeño but I just wanted plain. I got a large half sweet tea also. Both were delicious and large! I could have easily shared them. They also have a Pavillion and music every Monday night 6:00-8:00, live local entertainment!!! I wish I would have had room for ice cream! Next time!!!!!

When a 3rd friend told me about Yelling Helen, I had to try it. There is a story behind the unusual name, but since I couldn’t verify it. I will not mention that. I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. The area was all outdoor seating, and plenty of it in a large area that was nicely shaded with clean picnic tables to sit all. The parking was easy in and out and this little place is busy. You can walk up and order, or do the drive thru. It’s a simple menu, not a lot of choices but because of this, the service is fast. The workers were pleasant. They do offer samples which is really nice. All 3 friends recommended the strawberry butter ice cream. I ordered the barbecue nachos and it was delicious. I also got the regular strawberry butter cone. I am not a strawberry ice cream fan at all , but I have to say……it was really good. A regular cone was a little too much to eat, next time I will get the miniature size. I really enjoyed it all. The food and atmosphere, and will definitely be back.

Very tasty ice cream and very nice staff. I came here by coincidence and after I tried the ice cream, I came back two times more!
They have different sizes, changing flavors and toppings – so you can create a lot of combinations!
The small shop has a drive-in. But much better are the benches in front of the building with sunshade,so you can sit outside, relax for few minutes and enjoy the soothing vibes there.

Such a cute spot to stop. YES they do have toilets. I wasn’t sure bc it looked so small in photos. It’s all outdoor seating. The food was good!

My fave fun short road trip place! Always so yum! Their Dix, IL location is smack center in the middle of Mt. Vernon, Salem, and Centralia! So all roads lead there to their 3 town Bermuda triangle central ice cream spot dot on the map! Route 37 had never been so much fun till Yellin’s showed up on the main street! I can’t wait for the day when they get an extra creamed ice making machine so they can make their good maple ice cream their daily staple! ☀️☁️

Pomegranate Dole what’s today’s flavor and yes it tasted just like pineapple dull from hawaii but with a pomegranate bite. They were so friendly and being from Texas sitting outside was an excellent treat
