Nestled right by the ocean in beautiful Gloucester, MA, Yella on the Water is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving exceptional Mediterranean and seafood dishes. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in a wonderfully cozy and intimate atmosphere that feels both welcoming and authentically New England. It’s the kind of small, inviting place where you immediately feel at ease.
And let’s talk about the food! While everything we tried was fantastic, I simply have to highlight the clam chowder. Without exaggeration, this was the best clam chowder I have ever had – incredibly creamy, packed with tender clams, and perfectly seasoned. It’s a true masterpiece. Their seafood dishes are equally fresh and expertly prepared, showcasing the best of what the ocean has to offer, and their Mediterranean options are vibrant and flavorful.
Beyond the incredible food, the staff deserves a special mention. Every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about providing a wonderful dining experience.

Our waitress (Trinity?) was so great – knowledgeable about the menu, helpful, kind, and even offered us a blanket as the weather turned cooler. The view from the patio is great despite being across the road from the bay. The food was delicious!

My wife and I stopped in for an early Saturday dinner this Fall, no reservation, but we were able to sit on the patio and enjoy the sunset. The portions were good and the flavors excellent. She got a creamy pasta with shrimp, and I got the fish and chips. It was an excellent fry-job.
Sort of related, I left my payment card, and the manager mailed it back to me promptly. Stand-up staff.

Great experience from start to finish with a few exceptions, but they didn’t affect the overall experience much – pesto on Chicken Pesto Flatbread was salty and Chicken Wings weren’t seasoned as well, lacking salt.
There’s also not much parking designed for the restaurant at the parking lot, but street parking helps with that.
Went there for Mother’s Day this week and there wasn’t too much of a hassle, which is telling of the management style and its professionalism.

Had high hopes because I love a good Greek restaurant but was just ok. They have probably 20 wines by the bottle and only one of them (a rose) was Greek. So many incredible Greek wines, why not have more on the menu!? Mezze platter with 3 small spreads and fried pita was tasty – but seemed pretty overpriced at $26. Burger ordered medium was well done. Shakshouka had only one egg and was way over salted (and I like salt) and needed some more brightness. Just too heavy and salty. Fatoush w chicken also over salted but the grilled chicken was very good. Shirley Temples for the kids at $6.50 each seems pretty crazy. But that’s my fault for ordering the kids a Shirley Temple. Gotta stick with water. Oh well.

We made a reservation online and assumed it was a typical seafood restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised! The menu is Greek/Mediterranean. We had mussels for an appetizer and bouliabassie and shrimp scampi for entrées. All were OUTSTANDING! To top it off for dessert we had a strawberry shortcake. Also amazing. If you are looking for something that is NOT typical, please stop for an amazing dining experience!

Very pleasant atmosphere and great views!! Located directly across from the beach it’s a go to for anyone in the Gloucester area! The meals came out fast, service was lovely, and the quality of our meals spoke for themselves. Would recommend the shakshuka and gumbo, but really can’t got wrong with any option. Will visit again when in the area!

Yella is a very nice restaurant conveniently located in Gloucester, MA. It has a nice variety of healthy options. We did not order alcohol, so I cannot comment on that. We ordered a salad and a chicken kebab, and shared both. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious, portions were generous. Our waitress Stef was attentive and friendly without be being overbearing. Our dining experience at Yella was great, and we would love to come back. Thank you!

Took my longest Uber ride recently and the driver was from Beirut. We were talking about Lebanese food. He said some friends of his had a wonderful Lebanese restaurant in Andover. When I looked it up, I realized they had opened another restaurant Yella on the water in Gloucester near me. Today, we went and true it. Very nice place. Food was delicious and very authentic. My wife had fab salad with homemade felafel! I had the grilled fish. Lots of Zaatar and garlic! So good! Nice outdoor patio across the street from the Boulevard! Service was super friendly! Definitely recommend!

Located on the Gloucester waterside, this was a wonderful place to enjoy a fun and casual dinner! The staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive, including Mike, Jasmine and Sam! We were a large party and they accommodated us perfectly! The Mezza platter was wonderful, as were all of our entrees – even our Vegan diner was immensely pleased!
