Took the family (9 of us) here shortly after Christmas. We only had to wait a short time to get a table for our large group. The 198 year old restaurant and ambiance is amazing.
The food was served hot and delicious. We had our grandkids with us and they also have a nice variety kids menu. Everyone was very complimentary of the food, especially the French fries. Prices are reasonable too. Highly recommend checking out Ye Olde Trail Tavern.

We had dinner at this location before going over to see the Clifton Mill Christmas light display. The food and drink were great having the bourbon burger and German Reuben sandwiches. Our server was a attentive and friendly. The place has a quirky layout but is almost two hundred years old so there have been many changes. I would recommend this place and plan to visit again should I be in the area .

We visited in October and the weather was perfect for outdoor seating. We loved the Oktoberfest theme, enjoying the German beers. I had bratwurst with kraut and warm potato salad. My companion ordered gyro. Both meals were fantastic

What a charming little spot! It feels like one of those places that’s been around forever, quietly perfect. The bartender was sweet and really made us feel welcome. We shared the pickle fries with ranch, and they were amazing — crispy, tangy, and fun to snack on. It’s such a great place to relax after a hike, grab a drink, and just take it easy. Small, cozy, and full of character, it’s exactly the kind of spot I love finding when I’m out exploring. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to next time I’m nearby.

We really enjoyed the time we spent here for dinner. We learned about the tavern’s history from our server, which was so interesting! The brats and sauerkraut were very good! The onion rings were excellent, especially with the mustard.

Overall, this is a fun place to find good German food, and I was surprised to have found several vegetarian options, too. The inside of the restaurant is smaller than what you’d expect because it is a historic tavern, so if you’re tall (like my husband who is 6’4”), you might want to opt to sit outside if it is a nice day to be more comfortable. I’ll also say that this restaurant can be a bit pricey. After an appetizer, two brats, and four beers (two for me and two for my husband), our bill was $75 before tip. Based on the portion sizes, that seemed high. So, I do recommend a visit here, just be ready for a higher bill at the end. But the atmosphere is enjoyable and does make it worth it.

Amazing staff. Food was great! Fast friendly professional service. Highly recommended. Our waitress served our party of 11 with zero mistakes and fast service. No one had an empty drink at any time. Everyone’s order was spot on.

Our food was very good: Cheeseburger, Beer Cheese, Pretzel. The service was OK. The place is very old, but they managed to keep it decent!!

We stopped in for dinner after a long day of hiking on a very cold March day. They were serving warm spiked cider. It was so delicious that we each had two. We had the pretzels with cheese sauce, mashed potatoes, German potato salad and we each had the Kabobs. Everything was fantastic! The tavern is steeped in history and the building is over 200 years old. Highly recommended!

This place did not live up to the hype. While the food was good and well prepared there was much lacking for this to be a good experience. To start the wait staff could use some etiquette training. It was disappointing that the AC was not working on such a hot day. The building itself missed the mark. With such a historic building I expected much more. The cleanliness was lacking, the bathrooms were disgusting and more than a little maintenance needed attention. All in all, find someplace else.
