An absolute gem in Southern Jersey. First of all, the restaurant is the 3rd oldest in the United States, over 300 years old so you get a cozy colonial atmosphere. If the history isn’t enough for you, the food is excellent. I had brisket egg rolls as my appetizer served with an au jus sauce and horseradish. The garlic house salad is so good, bursting with freshness and flavor. Finally, I had the New York Strip steak with fries. The fries were crispy and nicely well done while the steak was delectable. Just a perfect cut of meat, perfectly cooked. We have a great time chatting with the owner and our wonderful bartender who hit us off with some historical cocktails, including a Devil’s Whiskers. It was a great way to top off our evening.

Loved this place. Excellently cooked New York strip. The Centerton salad is fantastic, although I would say that some folks might not like it, since it’s heavy on the garlic. The Centerton potato is a twice baked potato and has fantastic flavor. The prices look a little high, but the portions are huge.

Love this Old Inn, such a cozy feeling with the small rooms. The food and drinks are amazing. Joanne, the chef is the sweetest person. Mark, the bartender on Sundays makes the best drinks and fun to talk to as well. Highly recommend the Centerton Inn and can’t wait to go back.

I called for reservations for Easter. He said the owner would have to call me back because he didn’t know of availabilities. I said I couldn’t believe he didn’t know if they had an opening. I said to look at the schedule and see if there is an opening. He said he didn’t like my attitude and hung up on me. I called back and they refused to answer 4 times. I love Centerton, but you don’t hang up on a long time customer. The owner better call me back. Seriously, I may be old, but to hang up on a customer? I was not rude, just incredulous that they couldn’t schedule me. Oh well, there are other restaurants that are not an hour away.

Wow! We have been spoiled by the hospitality of this true Southern New Jersey historic gem. The staff is friendly, interesting and intelligent. The other patrons were warm, engaging and friendly. Our house peanuts were above and beyond what I was expecting. We shared the beef tips appetizer and, OMG, baba rhum , house made, for desert. We will be back soon.

Food is excellent! The seafood bisque is to die for! The pork tenderloin is amazing. The reason for only 4 stars is the building itself needs some tender loving care, but it is the oldest inn in NJ and 2nd oldest in the country. The staff was friendly and very inviting.
