The food selection is impressive. There are lots of meat and seafood options, all laid out buffet-style, along with a good variety of noodles. Everything you choose to cook in your hotpot comes from the buffet, and it’s all included in the set price. Just a heads up: the amount of choices can feel a little overwhelming. If you struggle with decision fatigue or executive dysfunction, be prepared to take a moment to figure out what you want.
At the table, you order your soup base from the server, and you can also request sushi and grilled skewers, which are brought out separately but are still included in the price.
One thing that stood out was how the soup base refills were handled. When the broth got low, it appeared they were simply adding hot water rather than refreshing the flavor. We didn’t notice any additional seasoning, broth concentrate, or bouillon being added, so the flavor gradually became more diluted over time.
The drink station got messy pretty quickly, mostly from kids refilling drinks and spilling things around. It’s self-serve, so it seemed like it was hard for staff to keep up with cleaning it.
On the positive side, the raw meats on the buffet were properly covered, which is great from a food safety standpoint. Tongs weren’t initially provided at the table, but they were available if you asked for them.
Service was about what you’d expect for a buffet—attentive enough without being intrusive.
One final note: I don’t believe they sell alcohol, in case that matters for your dining plans.
Overall, YC Seafood Hotpot is a fun spot if you enjoy interactive dining and having lots of options to choose from. Just be ready for a bit of decision-making and a lively, busy atmosphere once the dinner crowd rolls in.
It’s absolutely worth the price no matter what!
Update: I came back a week later after debating on ordering food through DoorDash. Once the fees added up, I realized I could have much better, quality food if I made the short drive to this restaurant.
Again, I was not disappointed. I just got over the flu, and the hot pot was just what my body needed. I ate until I was sated, and went right back to bed!
Each time the food, service and vibe is amazing. The price is beyond incredible. Since opening they have had lower prices but even for the 35$ they will normally charge it is very much worth it.
Every kind of fresh seafood- lobster, crab ,scallops, even abalone. Great choices of hot prepared foods. Fresh made sushi and skewers from lamb to shrimp.
We love how you can make the hot pot your own. Adding your own veggies, meats and sauces.
Each time our pot improves!! Learning a few new tricks here and there. This is definitely our favorite new restaurant. So glad to have it here!
My husband and I went there 3 times. The severs are ok, hotpot and hot food are good but need improve for sushi.
First visit was the best. Fastest and quality
Second visit was like… ummm ok. We tried to understand. We ordered sashimi immediately when I got seated, 20 minutes later the server told us “Somebody took it” somebody took our order!!! OK then we ordered again and waited for so long. It finally came when we almost done eating.
Third visit, we gave it another chance because we wanted to eat hotpot sushi and sashimi which YC is the closest one to our house. This time we ordered sashimi again, on the menu said “2pcs per order” we ordered 6 salmon sashimi so should have gotten 12pcs but they gave us only 5pcs and very thin….!?!?! Ok that might be a mistaken so we ordered 10 more plus 2 ordered for sushi and AGAIN! they gave us only 4pcs of sashimi. This is not ok at all. Every orders we had to wait for long and you never made it right.
If you were a customer, how do you feel?
I was really excited about the mix of an Asian buffet and hotpot, but the execution is a major disappointment.
• The Broth (The Biggest Letdown): I have never seen this before—when it was time to refill the pot, they added only plain water. No stock, no broth, just tap water. It diluted the soup so much that by the second half of the meal, we were basically boiling food in flavorless water. For the price they charge, that’s unacceptable.
• The Food: The sushi is not great. The skewers all use the exact same cumin spice; it’s okay for the first one, but it gets boring fast because there’s no variety.
• Value: You are much better off going to a dedicated hotpot or buffet place. This one feels like it’s cutting corners where it matters most.
