OH. MY. GOODNESS!! This restaurant is hands down the most delicious place in Baldwin County. The owner is super friendly and encouraging. Samples were had and we were instantly hooked! From the Jerk Chicken to the Curried Goat to the Oxtail…every item was delicious. The rice and peas are comfort food…bringing back fond memories. The meat falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The plantains are scrumptious. And if you are in the mood for something on the sweet side, the porridge made of peanuts and oats will knock your socks off. Portions are quite generous. I am excited to have left overs for tomorrow. I will happily make the drive to Foley, anyday for Yawdie. Yum!!

First time at Yawdie A Taste of Home, and I can’t wait to be back. The service was welcoming, even my husband said it felt like home. The food is the best I have tasted in this area, properly seasoned, properly cooked, real Jamaican flavors. The food was so good, I eat until my belly was full and can’t wait until tomorrow to have the rest.

Great fall off the bone chicken & pork, simply superb rice & peas… Close your eyes & you are not in Foley- the smoke flavor& smell of the jerk foods coupled with The owner, Dwayne’s smile & accent & you have traveled to Jamaica! So authentic . If you don’t get to “downtown” Foley go to Doordash & have it delivered. Yes, the picture is a single serving

This was my first experience to this location. Overall, it was good. When I first walked in, I didn’t know exactly where to go to pick up the food because of the layout of the room, but the young lady at the register on the other side directed me to come to her. Once she asked me about my pickup order, she repeated my order, hand me my bag, and thanked me. Very pleasant!! The establishment is a small, quaint space, as expected for it being new. As they grow, I’m sure they will expand and add more.

Now to the food. I ordered the Jerk Chicken, with rice and peas, and plantains. It came in a three compartment container, with the largest portion being filled with the rice and peas. The jerk chicken and plantains were in the smaller sections. Pros: the flavor of chicken was good, rice and peas were good, and the plantains were delicious.
Cons: The chicken was cut in very small pieces and a little dry. I would definitely recommend some type of jerk sauce to go with the chicken to add on top or to dip in. I would also give larger pieces of chicken, so it seems worth the money spent.
Rice and peas: They were good, but could’ve had a little more flavor, and moisture. Other than that, they were still good.
Plantains: Perfect!!!

Overall: If you like Caribbean/Jamaican food, this place would be a good choice. The staff was friendly, and the food was good. I do plan to return and try other things on the menu. I like spicy and flavorful food. I don’t think you would go wrong with this place if you’re looking for either.

Yawdie Jamaican Restaurant in Foley is truly a standout! The food came out fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious — full of authentic flavor in every bite. What made the experience even better was the incredible hospitality. The owner, Dewayne, welcomed us in and let us try samples before ordering, which made us feel right at home. When he found out my husband loves spicy food, he even sent us off with some of his spice sauces — such a thoughtful touch!

My husband and I were walking by the restaurant and the owner happened to be outside and invited us to try some samples. We decided to try and I’m so glad we did! Not only is the food amazing, but we were treated like family. We tried multiple different dishes and every single one was delicious. And this is coming from a picky eater! Dewayne took great care of us and we will definitely be back soon!
