The variety of vegetables is very large, almost all variety of greens you can think of, and multiple mushroom options.
If you are strictly a veggie person, the deal is a good one for shabu, but if you are a protein eater, it would probably work out more cost effective to go a place, and pay 30$ + that would have a much smaller veggie options, but you get to have as much protein as you like, if you’re a meat eater, it works out more cost effective if you go to a traditional spot.

The flavors are just okay — nothing amazing, nothing terrible — pretty average overall. And even though the place focuses on vegetables, it’s actually not that cheap. Maybe just slightly cheaper than other hot pot spots, but not by much.
Still, it’s a decent place to go when you want something warm and simple, and since we’ve already gone a few times, I’d say it’s good enough for a casual meal.
I will probably come here again since it seems like a better price than my previous go-to…as long as I don’t have a hankering for a lot of meat/seafood.
Today i added lamb and blue crab which i thought was a reasonable up charge.
Vanilla ice cream was also included as well as a jelly like dessert.
Love the spacious ambiance as well as the murals.
The restrooms are clean, modern & beautiful although they are down a flight of steps. Parking is aplenty too.
My only suggestion would be the sauce station to cover it up. I witnessed few customers hovering over the station and one was coughing. Not very hygienic.
From there, you’re off to the buffet bar, where there’s a dizzying array of veggies, noodles, and fish cakes to cook up in the hot broth. The only free proteins offered are tofu and eggs; plates of meats and seafood can be ordered for a separate cost.
At any buffet where so many unsupervised hands are going toward shared foodstuffs, my topmost concern is cleanliness. Here, I’m regularly pleased to see how many and how frequently workers come by to refresh, wipe down, and clean up the buffet area.
For all the fun and good food I’ve had here, there’s been one downside. Over my last few visits, the dessert section has slowly vanished. The soft serve ice cream machine has been replaced with a freezer of ice cream cups and mango pudding cups, neither of which are very good. That said, service is top notch. Even on their busiest days, servers come by to regularly take away empty plates and offer top ups of broths if your pot is getting too low.
pot fix. Food choices are basic and for the price gets the job done when craving something affordable and hot. One major thing that I must share and comment on is the decline in service and attitude of staff. I understand its AYCE… but if you expect a tip of 18%, 20% or even higher make sure staff acknowledges the customer’s existence and please have a decent demeanor and attitude. Upon arriving of a party of 6 around 7:35 PM…… we were seated but not attended to until about 20 minutes after. We had to ask for a server and when we were finally approached we had to request for water as the server reluctantly with an attitude came to our table. We were never asked if we needed our soup refilled throughout our meal each time We had to get the server’s attention . At 8:30pm we were told that food and sauce stations are closing so it was a last call… we were confused bc on their website it states closing is at 10pm. One of our friends went to get more food shortly after they let us know and as the trays of food were stacked up
Already she had to get her food from the stacks and two workers saw her yet chose to ignore her without asking if they can help her. Mind you its not a big deal to just ask politely if a customer needed help. My friend asked for an egg and ramen … the waiter answered her really short with a “no more food “ response. We felt as if get your food… cook it and leave now. We then asked them don’t you close at 10pm? The waiter then said when its not busy anymore and no people we clear the food earlier. We responded…. But we are people and customers are still eating. And of course ignored…again. Then the bill came… at this point we felt so rushed and everything leading up to the meal was just frustrating and rude , dismissive and unnecessary. The waiter came back around and indirectly implied for us to pay the bill and finish up bc they were closing… it was about 9:10. We said we will pay and leave When we have finished our meal… waiter replied your 90 minutes sitting time is up!!!!! At this point it was just utter rudeness and unprofessional. The negligence of them from the beginning of the meal to the end was just so irritating. At this point we were upset… for the 1st time in our dining experiences we did not leave a tip for the servers… we felt that this meal was absolutely ruined.
One of the waiters stopped us upon us leaving and asked why….. we explained each situation leading up to our annoyance and all he did was point to the sign that there is a 90 minute sitting period during peak times. Not addressing the fact that staff was extremely rude and unprofessional, and there is no reason for them to have cleared the food trays so early when clearly they are officially closed later. You cannot do last call with 1.5 left in your store hours… what if another party came in at 8:30 for a meal? Would they not be able to be seated bc the staff decided that there were no customers so they can all go home earlier ? To the Manager/Owner of Yasaiya…. Obviously we are very disappointed from our experience last night. To prevent this from happening again and upsetting other customers… find Staff that want to be a server and want this job enough that they are kinder and more courteous. Post your policies of when is last call and how your closing hours effects last call…. So customers understand up front and don’t feel like they are forced to eat at a certain timeframe at the end of the night of closing. You are a local business in a close community and have repeat patrons …train your staff with basic etiquette.
