Overall, the food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. Pickled fish is great while not spicy. The lettuce is a little bit oily.

Come here for the fish if you like spicy. Great choices for Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine, I was here a couple weeks ago with my parents and thoroughly enjoyed their 酸菜鱼(pickled cabbage fish),四季豆(sauteed green beans),麻婆豆腐(Mapo Tofu),炒白莲(stir fried cabbage). The wait was around 30-45 minutes on a Saturday as expected for a popular Chinese spot.

If you’re looking for roasted or braised chicken/duck in the Bay Area, this is a great pick!

“New age” authentic (as opposed to “traditional” authentic) – great Chinese/Szechuanese food.

The prices were reasonable and portion were big. Would eat here again.

Had the Yao Yao tomato fish fillet ($38). The flavor was good, but the dish was rich in oil, I removed a bowl of the oil from the dish and there was still quite a bit left in the dish. Rice isn’t included and costs about $2.50 per bowl. Waited about half an hour for the food to come out after placing the order. The restaurant was spacious and bright, with a pleasant atmosphere. Overall I would come back but you just need to spend some time separating out the oil if that matters to you.

A friend recommended this restaurant’s soy sauce chicken as being incredibly delicious. We went on a weekend lunch and it was packed. While the food was quite good, every dish took forever to arrive. We won’t be going back a second time.

San Leandro gem of Chinese restaurant . I say price is above average and so does the yummy food. Give it a try and you won’t regret. But most food taste much delicious when dine in. The huge bowl of fish (double sides) is really good. Very fresh fish, one side sour spicy, one side numbing spicy.

We like the BBQ Pork here they are tender and juicy! Just like what we used to have in Hong Kong. We also ordered the soy sauce chicken and the salt baked chicken. They are not bad! We had the coconut soup but probably not recommend it as the flavor was not standing out probably the coconut was cooked for too long.

I was very exited about it reopening its doors.

I had a terrible time at Yao Yao Restaurant and feel compelled to share my experience. We ordered two dishes – the Yao Yao Suan Cai Yu (Fish Fillet) and Poach Beef With Hot Chili – and waited a painful 40 minutes with nothing showing up at our table.

When we finally flagged down a server, they checked the order sheet and assured us our food was on its way. But get this: the restaurant was about to close in 10 minutes! Faced with the prospect of missing out on our meal, we quickly switched to takeout. But instead of getting our food promptly, we got handed the bill right away. Why the rush to charge us but not to serve us?

And the cherry on top? As we left, a staff member ran after us and handed us the noodle dish we’d ordered, completely forgotten until then. It was just one mistake after another.

In short, Yao Yao Restaurant seriously dropped the ball. Long waits, poor service, and a total lack of attention to detail made this dining experience one to forget.
