The clam chowder is the clear standout: thick, rich, and about as comforting as it gets. The lobster roll is generous and well done, though not quite city-best. The Bloody Mary is strong, spicy, and packed with extras, a great match for the seafood.
Service is friendly but light, somewhere between counter and table service. The setting is casual with indoor and outdoor seating and a relaxed harbor feel. You’ll probably like it for what it is: a solid, classic Boston seafood stop that hits the spot, even if it won’t change your life.
32°F and getting colder as the low winter sun struggles to warm the streets of Boston under the geometric canopy of residential and commercial architecture that shadows Northern Ave in the Seaport District.
Nothing warms a Bostonian like a big cup of chowder….where better than
YANKEE LOBSTER
A seaport landmark for more years than I have been around.
Chowder is exactly as it should be. A few potatoes, cream, just the right amount of butter and lots of clams. It’s not cream chowder, it’s not herb chowder. It’s definitely not potato or onion chowder. It’s clam chowder. Perfect in its simplicity.
Fun music at a volume that offers audio privacy. Cleanest bathrooms ever. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Co-located with public parking just beside the building. Paid street parking as well.
Come for the Chowder, Lobster and Stuffed Quahogs.
Tell ‘em Jeff from MAHI Outfitters sent you!!
I love this place!!
I got the fried lobster and traditional butter roll. They both come with a very generous side of crispy fries. The fried lobster roll was the best. Very light batter with a bit of old bay dusting along with a side of butter to dip it in. Delicious. My wife liked the traditional roll more.
We had a dinner and next day ordered take out for the road.
Crab cake was over cooked and dry but still edible with the sauce.
Too much French fries. Would’ve preferred just a plain baked potato instead.
Lobster bisque was a little salty and had mostly claw pieces. No flavor.
So disappointed .
Paid $32 . Save your money and try someplace else.
Nothing to write home about.
Also tried a crab roll this time, very delicious as well. Tons of crab meat with a nice fresh mayo dressing!
