Family favorite since my childhood. Convenient location near Fubonn shopping centre, authentic cantonese food with generous portions, and speedy and understanding service.
The flavor of the dishes at Yan Zi Lou are frangrant, balanced, and not too greasy. Keep in mind that plates come out very full, and feed a crowd!
Atmosphere at night is sometimes dampened by smokers lingering by the restaurant entrance, polluting the air at entry. This is particularly at night time. However, aside from this, Yan Zi Lou is highly recommended!

Roasted pork belly was tasty. Mapo Tofu excellent as well. Chinese broccoli always good, but a bit pricey. Nice clean restaurant. Surprised it was so dead on a Saturday night at 6pm. But not complaining as it made our dishes come out faster.

This is a solid place to get some authentic Cantonese style food. We ordered a good amount of food to share among the table. Some of the standout dishes to me were the beef chow fun as it had a good charred/smoked flavor on the noodles, the pork rib sizzling pot had really good flavors, roast pork, and the sizzling beef. The veggie dishes were a good balance to the meat dishes (it was sad that they ran out of the seasonal veggies). My friends enjoyed the fish and the egg flower soup. The only dish that was mediocre to them was the calamari.

We bought seafood from a supermarket then came here to have the restaurant chef cooked them. They listed the cooking fees on the wall so there are so many customers bringing their seafood and let the restaurant cooking it. The cooking was perfect. Love all dishes.

Absolutely excellent all around. With there with my wife and her family, who are Taiwanese. They love the place and when we were there, the only people dining were also asian (if you know about good asian food, seeing asians in the restaurant means it’s GOOD). portions were huge, made promptly. Everything was delicious, minimally salty, NOT sugary. They gave us complimentary seaweed soup, delicious. Location is clean, well kept. We are definitely going back!

You know it’s real when you can bring your own seafood for them to cook lolololol
Would recommend!!!!
*but parking slightly hard to find during busy hours, there’s an additional park lot if you drove in to the right (I haven’t parked there so not sure how big it is, but it’s there. Just kinda tucked away)

Your can bring your fresh seafood and they will prepare it for a flat fee. What’s not to like about that?

The first time we went there the service was good the only reason it was good is because my husbands aunt knew the worker This time I went, I went to exchange a lottery ticket the service was disgusting they were so racist and rude. This old raggedy lady with a short pony tail wearing an apron was so incredibly racist. I don’t think as a woman of color you should be attacking somebody for their skin color. Not only was she rude she looked at me and shooed me away with her hand and said “ go change somewhere else” i didn’t hear her clearly so I asked her to repeat herself, it looked like she had gotten mad when I asked her to repeat herself and she looked at me and once more shooed me again with her hand and said “ I don’t speak Spanish” if you can please don’t go to their restaurant there’s so many better options in Portland the fact that there’s more reviews about being racist and the owner is doing absolutely nothing about it is disgusting and means they condone this type of behavior. (Btw she never told me why I couldn’t exchange my lottery ticket.)

One of the few must-gos Chinese restaurants to enjoy a bit of the more than average Joe (pork fried rice, chop suey, sweet & sour chicken) dining establishments you can find great Cantonese BBQ Meats (roasted pork belly, bbq pork, roasted duck) that is consistently great in taste, texture. We celebrated a family birthday yesterday with a few of our go-to dishes(see pics in review) we had double bbq dish (peking duck/roasted pork belly), stir-fried morning glory(spinach like greens) w/garlic fernented tofu sauce(sounds a bit “different” but so tasty), pepper salted tofu was wafting with the fresh “wok-hay”(if you know you know), Buddhist mixed veggies in garlic sauce(crunchy yet still tender enough to bite through), Peking Pork Chops (better alternative to the typical sweet and sour pork/chicken), pepper salted fried cod (fam fave-the batter was so crispy yet not overly greasy in any way), stir fried vermicelli w/dried shrimp(wonderfully lightly seasoned clear noodles with just a smattering of small dried shrimp to give it a bit of umami scent), braised egg tofu sautéed with mixed mushrooms . The service was as per usual was quick, efficient, and delicious. Pro tip: parking can be tricky as the restaurant is situated in a complex of homes and other small businesses. So if you can’t find parking in the main lot there is extra parking in the adjacent side of the building drive. Just thru the little tunnel like spot between Beijing Hotpot and the restaurant building. Happy Eatings!!
