Foods were ok. Reasonable prices in Bay Area. Spacious. Not difficult to find a parking. But, they automatically charged 18% compulsory tips without good service was ridiculous. The top management were zero smile and greeting to customers.

Yan Peninsula, a renowned Chinese restaurant, stands out for its exceptional quality service, captivating atmosphere, and delectable cuisine. The restaurant’s beautifully crafted ambiance enhances the dining experience.
The Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce serve as an ideal appetizer, offering a harmonious blend of textures and delectable flavors. The Spear Ribs with Black Bean Sauce are distinguished by their optimal seasoning, avoiding excessive saltiness. The Shrimp Dumplings are a true culinary delight, characterized by their thin and flavorful wrapper, bursting with shrimp goodness. Despite its unconventional appearance, the Siu Mai with Shrimp Roe is surprisingly flavorful and enjoyable. While the Beef Rice Noodle Rolls are delectable, the overall experience at Yan Peninsula is truly exceptional.

We been here before it was sold to this current owner. Back then the food was ok, the place was a bit dirty and never went back!
My niece made reservations and I didn’t know we were coming here to this new ownership restaurant! I was somewhat surprised how good the food was and quality ingredients! Except the broccoli was old and bitter!
It was a weekday with a skeleton staff, they only had 4-5 tables but still took a bit of time for service!
I’ll definitely be coming back when I’m in the area!

It is very clean inside, has good services, and has enough parking slots for Hong Kong-style food.
We wanted to come for Dim Sum , but they don’t serve it at night….
The food was generally fine but not so special. The vast space is suitable for large groups or special occasions.
We forgot to check if the bill was good, but I was concerned after reading other people’s reviews later that the service charge may have already been included in the bill, but we paid 20% additionally. I should have checked. $140 for 3 people after tips and tax seemed a bit high.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. I visited for dinner and ordered the steak and shrimp served over broccoli, along with the sweet and sour pork. Both dishes were delicious, and the broccoli was perfectly cooked to my liking. One thing to note is that a service fee—essentially the tip—is automatically added to the bill. Personally, I didn’t mind this since I usually tip more than that anyway.

We came here primarily to have some lobster.

The price for lobster over noodles is just $20 at lunch time. Although the plate is really large, the serving isn’t that big, but for around $20, there really isn’t much to complain about.

To be fair, I have had limited-time specials where they also serve lobster over noodles for around $20 in San Francisco which tasted better, but this is a much bigger restaurant, and it seems to be a regular lunch special.

The souffle is, however, something to write home about: it’s really fluffy and not too sweet, and enough to share. Given that it isn’t cheap at over $13, the novel experience alone is worth it.

Note that this place not only charges you for water, but also double dip on tips: they levy an 18% service charge even for a party of one, and they still expect you to tip separately at least 18%-22%. It felt almost compulsory, which i didn’t like, especially since service isn’t all that great to begin. You have to ask for everything multiple times.

Their food in general was good. However, one of the servers had very bad attitude. But everyone else was nice. Somehow the shrimp dumplings came out to be still raw but they took it back and brought out a new one for us which was good. We went in and told them we wanted cold water and no tea but they somehow brought out a teapot of hot water? And still charged us for teas. The teas were 3.9 dollars and when we found out about it we had already paid. So we talked to one of the servers and she brought back 2 dollars for us which clearly did not match what they charged us but we didn’t want to bother with it anymore.

This review is long overdue. Yan has been our go to for dimsum and dinner. Their baked bbq pork buns and Portuguese’s egg tarts are outstanding.

Live seafood is always fresh and reasonably priced. Love their stir fries. Everything is just consistently good! Highly recommend!

A very spacious dim sum location in Millbrae. The ornate ceiling decor elevates the ambiance. I appreciate that the restrooms are easily accessible right by the entrance and are fairly clean. Service was generally quick on a Saturday lunch, there was no wait for two people. We ordered the basics, siu mai and har gaw, and both were just fine, very dense filling but nothing too memorable. The two items that were surprisingly good were the shrimp rice noodle roll and the crispy shrimp fried noodle roll. Shrimp rice noodle roll was very flavorful. The crispy shrimp fried noodle roll was very unique with a bright orange rice noodle wrapped around a fried coating wrapped around shrimp. There was so much flavor in these rolls! Wish they carried a larger variety of beer though. Street parking is a bit hit and miss. Overall, pretty good affordable dim sum on the peninsula. May try it again.

The place is still new and the decor is modern. Depends on what you order, some dim sum may not taste housemade but the ones we had were all very decent and tasted fresh. Nothing stands out nothing to nitpick, they are on the higher price point and they impose 15% service fee on your bill.
