I am so happy I found this place! I was on a trip down the coast, and I was craving some Chinese food. After a little research, I came across Yan Flower.
I ordered the potstickers and lunch combo B1 (orange chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, and one egg roll) online. It was ready within 10 minutes, and when I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly woman. She really made the experience great with her warm, cheerful attitude.
I didn’t realize how much food I had ordered because I got enough for about 3-4 meals for only $28. I will definitely be returning next time I’m in Santa Cruz.

Yan Flower is truly an exceptional dining experience. The food was, without question, the best Chinese cuisine I have ever had—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Beyond the outstanding dishes, the service made the visit even more memorable. The ladies working there were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, creating a warm and genuine atmosphere. The restaurant itself was comfortable and peaceful, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. I cannot recommend Yan Flower highly enough and will absolutely be returning.

A few weeks ago I saw Yan Flower’s reviews which encouraged me to try it out. The order was a take out and being the first time it was hard to make a choice. The waitress/cashier asked a few times was I ready to order. When I explained that this was my first time and how I chose to patronize this restaurant because of the high reviews, she became very helpful and patient. The food was excellent. I’m going back today. This is the BEST, BEST, BEST Chinese Restaurant from Monterey County to Santa Cruz County. I plan to go at least 1 or 2 times a months…. don’t want to over do it.

We got hired by the owner to do a clean out of some concrete and And throughout the cleanup, we kept smelling the food so I told my employee that we were going to try the food after we were done hauling no way the concrete so after we were done with the job, I walked to in front of the restaurant ordered chow mein, broccoli, beef, and steamed rice and let me tell you this was the best food I have ever had. I give this place five stars if I can give it six I would highly recommend this business. Excellent staff Great food, fast service

Had Christmas dinner here and the place was packed, I got the last table available.
They handled it like holiday veterans, no panic, no delay. I got my food faster than I could say hot tea please.
I ordered the orange chicken plate, a cup of hot tea, and—cream cheese wontons that were so crunchy and delicious.
The orange chicken was fresh and crispy, sweet, and hot. The tea warmed my soul like a hug in a cup. And those wontons melted like a Christmas miracle in my mouth.
The prices? More generous than your grandma on scratcher winnings.
And the freshness? Like it was cooked by elves using locally sourced joy.
I just ate here a second time orange chicken again my favorite and I was feeling really particular that day. I just didn’t really have much of an appetite for anything and I was really picky so I said please give me a freshest chicken and it was so fresh and it was so good so thank you so much yan flower .
Moral of the story: If you’re wondering where to eat on a busy day. This place isn’t just “good for a holiday.”
It’s “I’d come here on any day ending in Y” kind of good.

I’ve been coming for years, and the food has been better in the past. It’s still good now, the orange chicken is fresh and tasty. Good sauce. Noodles are fresh, everything was served hot. But there was an egg shell in my fried rice, so that was not a happy experience. I still remember the egg flower soup being the best, as is it’s namesake. So go there and get some soup while you still can. This whole area south of Laurel will be redeveloped soon.
Skip the fried rice tho.

Delicious food! Highly recommend, out of all the Chinese food in Santa cruz this spot is a must stop! The pineapple chicken fried rice is very flavorful. The orange chicken is some of the best I’ve had, good breast meat with a nice crisp to it! The portions were decent with exceptional and quick service. Friendly employees, nice atmosphere, great prices, and plenty of parking. Will definitely be back!
