Was in town visiting my son at Campbell and wanted to try a good Japanese spot, ended up checking this place out. At first, things seemed fine, but the hostess who seated us set a weird tone. No greeting, no explanation of the menu just kind of cold and rushed. Honestly felt like we were bothering her just by showing up.They brought out the soup and salad pretty fast, but the same lady kept hovering, checking if we were done like she was in a hurry to move us along. It felt more like we were working for them, not the other way around. The hibachi chef was friendly and did the usual show, nothing amazing, but he was nice. The food, though, was pretty salty, and the prices were a bit on the high side for what you get.Overall, the experience was just okay. Definitely not somewhere I’d go back to, mostly because of the poor customer service.

What a great little place! We stopped at Yamato Japanese Steakhouse for dinner and really enjoyed the experience. We got seated with another family at a big hibachi table and we left as friends! It was great watching the chef prepare our meals right in front of us, and give a show with spinning eggs and an onion volcano! Our food was hot and delicious.

This is a fantastic place to eat as it is probably one of the closest restaurants in our arsenal of choices. I just wish it was more affordable. A Steak and chicken plate is almost $30 with fried rice. They charge extra for fried rice….the cheapest item on their menu…..I wish we could afford it more. Eating in looks like a good time. Cooks are balancing eggs on their spatulas. You get a whole show. Back home I could get a steak and chicken plate for about $20 and they don’t charge you extra for a cheap side item.

This is an old establishment along the busy highway and the atmosphere inside is fresh and well maintained cleanliness. The service was great and the food are fantastic. We went there yesterday Aug 25, 2025 Monday 11am. And it was my first time to visit there as I am 1 month + here in America..

My family and I have wanted to try Yamato out for the last year and just hadn’t stopped in. Well today was the day we stopped and I regret not coming in sooner. We chose to sit in a booth instead of at the hibachi grills. We ordered appetizers, Gyoza , tempura shrimp and Bulgogi. I will say the appetizers were good but the Bulgogi wasn’t as sweet as it is at other restaurants but I asked for some sriracha and that made this bulgogi better. For our “meals,” we each ordered a sushi roll and then one sushi roll to share, making it 5 rolls total. We ate every last piece of sushi! They were very good!! We will go back again, for sure!

I don’t know what kind of horrible sushi people have had to give this place more than 2 stars. The sushi was rubbery and tasted old. Our table was sticky and the place smelled musty. We went on a Friday for early dinner and we were disgusted by the quality. Everything was overpriced. If you know what good or even decent sushi taste like, you’ll be just as disgusted. I’d rather eat grocery store sushi.

Owners are rude and aggressive. Anytime they mess anything up and you try to correct them, they yell and make you feel bad for ordering said food. We live 45 minutes away and had ordered multiple rolls and 2 of them were wrong. We asked for a refund and to which she started yelling again. She was rude from the time my husband walked in to order from the time we got on the phone. Sushi maker is lazy as well.

We don’t recommend this place whatsoever. The atmosphere is overall dirty and ran down and customer service is as bad as the place looks.

April 2025 – I asked my lunch date, Charlie, what was her favorite place to eat in Clarksville with the best food & heartfelt memories. She selected Yamato as the place, and I was not disappointed & very pleased with the quality of the food and service there. Ironically, it is a place I wanted to go to since 2019 when I first moved to the Fort Campbell and Clarksville area. Yet, I never did in the five years I lived there. The restaurant is located by Fort Campbell and opens at 11 AM. The ambience is comfortable, quiet, & casual setting with tables and booth areas – dim lighting. Our server was Sunny. She was very pleasant and professional. She recommended the Apple sake. It was my first time trying it and the best sake I ever had. For lunch, I asked Charlie to order for me her favorite foods. She ordered sushi and a bento box with Korean & Japanese food. Everything tasted excellent and was a joy to eat. Yamato is truly a hidden gem in Clarksville’s restaurants. I wish I had tried it earlier when I lived in the area. It was the best lunch I ever had in a restaurant in Clarksville.

The food was amazing but lost power during my first experience. It’s like they didn’t pay the power bill. When it was time to pay used the menu to get the prices. But used there own tax making it a $85.00 witch is fine I ain’t worried about it so I went to the gas station next door to get a $100.00. As I was paying for the meal I was to get $10.00 back so I can give my waiter a $5.00 tip because his service was amazing. I asked the waitress if I can get a $10.00 she refused due to couldn’t get cash from the register but I saw her counting money in front of me. I do not recommend this restaurant they will steal from you
