I had the hibachi shrimp, mushroom soup, and salad which was good. I don’t know why we were seated in a booth next to a bunch of empty cardboard boxes when they were mostly empty. The waitress wasn’t attentive and never brought a couple of things we asked for. My appetizer came after my meal.

My 3 star rating is based on the lack of cleaness in the front end, boxes opened, paper goods scareted, and furniture full of dust. The food quality and preparation a rating of 4.5 stars. Service was friendly and on time. Restaurant is nicely decorated ambiance music is quite needed. We had lunch for four of us. I strongly believe if some of the small issues are taken care regarding the disorganized image, Yamato Japanese restaurant could one of the best in many miles in southern Illinois.

This place is gorgeous!! The food is amazing. Every bite of sushi I had was a party in my mouth!! I couldn’t believe how good it was!! So fresh and delicious!! I can’t say enough on the sushi! You’ll love it!! The waitress was perfect and super nice! You won’t be disappointed here!! Oh and FYI the front door is just hard to open. You’ll see when you go.

I’ve ate here twice in the past week. The food is very good. I highly recommend the Dynamite roll and the Bento box. We did not leave hungry and both times asked for a Togo box. The last time we were there people were complaining there was only one salad dressing and they didn’t get rolls with their steak. This is a JAPANESE restaurant. This place is for sushi lovers. There is no American food here. No French fries or nuggets for your child. And thats what we liked. The prices are decent. A roll of frozen sushi is 6$ a $ more here and you have fresh. The waiter was good and cleared our table and filled our drinks. My only complaint was the construction dust still around here and there. Otherwise it’s clean.
