Great again the volcano roll was so yummy thank you for the great food and service.
Still very delicious food I had a hot lovers roll this time it was very creamy in the middle with crunchy outer layer such a yummy option ❤️. My dining party enjoyed their meals very much also.

Always the best food and service! I’ve been coming here since they opened. It’s my favorite restaurant in Portsmouth. My husband loves the fried rice. I love the sushi!

I have always enjoyed Yamato. The food has always been excellent. The new management have brought the restaurant to a new level. The sushi is absolutely amazing. The new ramen is crazy-good. The changes to the bento box (adding gyoza and spring rolls in place of tempura vegetables) has elevated the dish tremendously. I love the beef fried rice and Lobster Rangoon, as well. I wish they hadn’t removed the New York Strip hibachi from the menu (it was my favorite from the old menu), but the yakiniku is every bit as good. I’m looking forward to trying the Filet Mignon the next time we go there.
If you are a sushi lover, you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. My favorites are the California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and the Hot Lover Roll… and, of course, the Yamato Roll.
Hats off to Barry and Hannah for doing such a wonderful job with the restaurant.

A Japanese Restaurant with Japanese people working it, in PORTSMOUTH, Ohio??? What a Gem. It’s the first time I ate the veggies (‘cuz they were fresh & crisp)
I tried it by accident while driving through, and I’m very glad I did. The teriyaki sauce was the best I’ve had, and I’ve had quite a lot.
The fried rice had a flavor So addictive I needed another bowl with my meal. And although it may sound trivial, their iced tea was very tasty (some restaurants can actually screw up Tea)
Extremely moderate in price (prob’ly ‘cuz it’s Portsmouth) and very healthy portions. Now THAT’S a good mix.
Well worth your time if you find yourself on Route 23 going South into town.

One of my favorite places to eat in ptown! Very pretty on the inside. Highly recommend the Mango Typhoon Roll, Hot Lover Roll and Crab Rangoons!

I always look forward to visiting here for a meal. New management doesn’t disappoint; fantastic quality service & food. Get the ramen while you can! Not sure how long it will be around considering they cannot source the ingredients required to make it due to our current presidential administration. Lobster Rangoons as well are top tier!!!

So I had lunch here with a family member and first off..the bathroom was awful..so much soap scum and etc..secondly..the tables were sticky and the floors were gross..and they weren’t even busy..the menus had caked on food them..then I ordered wine..the first wine glass had old lipstick on it and the second glass had smudged food on it..my waitress was nice but she was on her phone and very distracted..I had to wait over 30 minutes for my sushi. The only positive thing was the sushi plate had a cute design of a cat and cute paw prints on them that the sushi chef made.. but the cleanliness of this place was awful and 60$ for what? I won’t be returning.
