This place is one of my favorites here in town. Food is always spot on no matter what you get.
I love the Superman, Alabama, and Jacksonville rolls in particular. Everything is always so flavorful that it’s hard not to order the whole menu. They also have lightning fast service whether it’s dine in or carry out.
My family and I highly recommend them.

We love eating here. The food is so delicious and the prices are very reasonable and there is never a wait and they accommodate large parties and the staff and waitresses are always so friendly and have the best service!

This is my favorite place in East Texas to get sushi. We have tried so many other restaurants in Tyler and I always come back to Yamato because it’s my favorite.
Why? Because Yamato is consistent and the food is great and well plated. Staff is friendly and service is extremely fast. I have yet to have a negative experience here and we have been coming now for several years.
My favorite picks from here are the veggie bento lunch, the steamed vegetable plate, and the shrimp tempura roll. We also get the chicken hibachi style dinner and it is a winner, too.
Please note that they are closed on Mondays.

This is not the true hibachi style where they cook in front of you rather you order and the food is served a la carte style!
The food was ok, miso soup was too salty but the tofu didn’t tasted fresh; the fried rice was blah, you can see the color is off; the green tea that we ordered was from a tea bag and not tea leaving so less not happy with that. We ordered the shrimp and scallops plate and filet mignon and chicken plate for reference.
The ambience was old school with flashing light right at front.

Unempressed to say the least…. Ran into this location after the local breakfast spot was closed unexpectedly. Was very hungry and as an avid sushi lover and wanted to try. The location is secluded over by a farm supply store, and parking lot is horrible with tons of potholes that can damage your car if you’re not paying attention and driving the wrong speed. Ambiance of restaurant is nice. At the time the restaurant wasn’t very busy at all. Almost empty. We were sat immediately in a booth. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. No music was playing to set the ambiance. Only TVs playing with no sound. The pricing of the lunch specials is exciting, until you get the sushi and the meal plates. Was definitely smaller than expected. Food comes in small portion sizes. You do get what you pay for here. Complimentary waters didn’t taste too well. Has chemical odor. This location could use a good water filtration system. Calamari appetizer was very disappointing. Not fresh and very rubbery like from frozen package and not fresh. Presentation of sushi and our meals were very basic. Not impressive at all. Food was placed on cheap plastic plates along with cheap school lunch cafeteria style silverware and napkins! I was honestly too scared to check out the bathroom quality, or lack thereof. Overall we’ve had better sushi within Tyler city limits and intend on keeping our business there. We would’ve rather payed more for better quality food. Paid more for a better overall experience. Ordered drinks to go that were placed in styrofoam cups. Visit at your own discretion.

Everything is fresh and wonderful! We had the love boat which in my opinion is the best value for 2 people. My son got the 2 rolls for 11.99 and he was stuffed! My wife is not a sushi love like me and the kiddos so she enjoyed the chicken fried rice and a salad. Thank you Yamato for a great family night out! ❤️

Highly highly highly recommend this place!! We sat down and were served our appetizers within, I kid you not, 5 minutes! Fastest service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Not only that but the appetizers were delicious – I highly recommend the brussel sprouts (super crunchy like potato chips and sweetly dressed in a homemade balsamic sauce). The sushi was also quick to be served and very yummy. Definitely will be coming back here again whenever I need some quick good sushi 🙂

Don’t let the pretty picture fool you. Looked wonderful when we got it our food. But on the sushi roll plate I moved a piece and found a live wiggling fly. Looked like it was deliberately placed there. So not coming back here and will be telling others not to come here also. Disappointing

This place has some of the best sushi and surf and turf I’ve ever had. The restaurant is cleaner than my last visit (the vents). This restaurant is one of the best sushi places I’ve eaten at. They have beer, wines, sushi, steak, chicken, yaki soba, salads, soup and so much more. Bring your family or friends. Very good place. Friendly wait staff and hibachi chef at good prices
