Phenomenal service, prices, portion size, & quality of ingredients! I moved to the area over the summer and was desperate to find a local sushi restaurant. Tried Yamato and was just thrilled. I am there often and have never not loved my experience. Bonus is how well patrons are valued and treated. I have no need to try another sushi and hibachi restaurant. ❤️

We live 10 minutes away from Yamato, so we order takeout fairly frequently. The shrimp tempura and potsticker appetizers are both excellent. I tried the unagi (eel) avocado roll this last time and really liked it. The shrimp fried rice has plenty of good sized shrimp. There are a few tables in a small dining area, but I have never seen anyone eat in. Alas it isn’t Japanese owned, but that would be too much to expect in Northwest Indiana.

Haven’t had the sushi but the hibachi is awesome. Maybe one mediocre meal out of 50+ orders. Usually cooked perfectly and great portions (especially for the price). Eat here once every week or two on average and that’s not gonna change.

We’ve eaten here before, and it was good. Ordered a considerable amount for take out, and can say we won’t be going back. Everything tasted the same, nothing was spicy by any means, and I’m not sure there was actually fish in the spicy rolls, all tempura breading.

They served me bad fish. I got the Philadelphia roll and it was spoiled. When I called to try and rectify the situation, they told me that what I was tasting was smoked salmon. I’m sorry but smoked salmon doesn’t taste SOUR. They actually told me to dispute the charge with my bank because they won’t give me a refund. I don’t want a replacement roll- they already served me bad fish once.
The girl at the front desk tried to help but I’m guessing the owners would not let her work with me.
For clarification/update: I said I did not want to drive back for a refund of $8 for the one roll. If I drove back then I’d just return all of the food for the $50 refund but you said you would not do that.
So now we’re here. All I wanted was an $8 refund for one item that was inedible. You spoke to my brother but I was the one that paid for the food.
