Yamato is an all you can eat sushi restaurant located near the Boston College area, serving sushi as well as other Japanese dishes such as tonkatsu, ramen, and more.
The service is basically all handled by your own party, as they use tablets to order and send orders in, with the staff bringing it out when they’re prepared.
The sushi is good for the price, and good to eat as much as you want. The rice to fish ratio is alright, it could be better but its all you can eat, so you get what you expect. It’s overall a good price for what you get.

$26 all-you-can-eat sushi (and random Asian items like tempura, udon, and crab Rangoon) lunch on the weekday cannot be beat in the Boston area. Food isn’t the greatest but the quantity and variety more than makes up for the quality.
Beware over ordering as they will charge you extra for “wasted food”.

My partner and I have been going to this place for years now and it’s always been one of our favorites. We went the other day for All You Can Eat Sushi and learned they changed the system to use a tablet, which we wouldn’t mind except that we only get nigiri/sushi pieces and it would only let us get 10 each. This is a flaw in the ordering system as the ordering cap counts one nigiri/sashimi the same as a whole roll. It took us 2 hours to eat what normally would have taken less than an hour due to the menu queue timer & cap. Normally this just takes us two orders total but it took us 6, meanwhile many folks were waiting for a table. The new ordering system definitely needs some work as the overall service quality has lessened since the change.

Good value for money. Food is good, large variety included in all you can eat menu, raw and hot options, some specials available. Make sure to understand the ordering system and portion sizes for each item: Service is really fast, so don’t order a ton of things in your first order (like we did), you can keep requesting as much more as you can eat at fixed price, also reduced price for kids. Street parking may be somewhat difficult depending on time of day.

You haven’t seen someone’s true colors until you’ve brought them to Yamato’s AYCE. Behind the tantalizingly average sushi and vaguely corporate oriental decor lies an indispensible Brighton classic that promises an evening of pride, struggle, and triumph. Remember to order Round 2 when 2/3 done with Round 1 so you can give in to uninterrupted fishy indulgence like the capitalistic whale you are. I battled demons here, and you can too. Been a dozen times, would go again.

Unfortunately I have to leave a review, even if I don’t want to because I actually love the food here.
All you can eat is amazing and the food is fresh and tasty.
My review is about the service, I don’t even want to leave any tip as I basically order everything with a tablet that is given to me, I even have to order the drinks myself, the servers are rude, they only check when you are ready to pay, and then start saying thank you thank you and never checking the table again, they are basically just running the food.
Today my server was in front of me checking her phone, and sitting across , while I was waiting for a drink and food, then she disappeared for 15 minutes and the place was empty! I had to catch the cook’s attention because I waited 20 minutes for a sprite.
Service 0 stars

Been going to Yamato for years. I was never a sushi person but now I am. Great service and most of all the food. They did an upgrade with the place and I like the new look. Can you add more TV’s please .

The food is not great. It’s not terrible, but not great. It’s mostly a place for college kids, keep in mind. The part that I couldn’t stomach, we ordered miso soups, the waitress had her thumb in them as she put it on the table. Then when my table wanted to order more sushi, they were too busy on their cell phones.
It’s all you can eat, though… So that’s nice. Don’t expect a high end place. The tables are sticky and the place has a smell.

Yamato in Brighton was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. If you enjoy eating mostly rice with the tiniest bit of fish, this is your spot, because that’s all you’ll get. The sushi tasted awful, low-quality, and honestly made me feel sick afterward.
The service was just as bad. The server with short black hair, and glasses was extremely rude from the moment we sat down. She slammed dishes onto the table, barely spoke to us politely, and when we didn’t leave a tip, she actually demanded one. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful.
I would never come back here. One star is too generous for this place, Between the horrible food and the rude, entitled staff, this place is a total disaster. Save yourself the trouble and go anywhere else.
