Overall it was pretty good! Yamada is a cute little sushi spot in Rutherford with unique antique decor I would say. I’ve tried couple different things and it was good, I can test the freshness from all the dishes I’ve had. The service was great and the prices were affordable. Will be back again.

We ordered lunch here for pick up on a Thursday afternoon. They only have street parking available, since it’s on the main street and it was just after a snowstorm, so you can imagine how that situation was. Luckily, my sister was with me and she was able to just run down and grab the food. We ordered a few of the basic roll lunch specials to share. There aren’t that many options to choose from. Some of the ones we got were California, shrimp tempura, salmon, tuna, eel, and spicy salmon. None of it was very good. There was way too much rice. The “spicy salmon” wasn’t the traditional sushi takeout spicy salmon, but rather a roll of salmon slices, and globs of spicy mayo blobbed on top. Lunch specials come with a miso soup but that wasn’t very good either.
There are lots of better sushi takeout spots in Rutherford. Skip Yamada.

If you’re looking for authentic sushi, this is the place to be. The service is top-notch, and the sushi rolls are simply delicious. I’ve visited many sushi spots across Northern NJ, but this one stands out. The rice is perfectly cooked and has a subtle sweetness, while the sushi is incredibly fresh. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Highly recommended!

This is like my third time and the quality is consistent. Always on time to pick up, fresh ingredients and well done. I always picked up food never ate at the restaurant.

Quick pickup. The salmon sushi and salmon roll were both fresh and filled to the brim. I also enjoyed the addition of a free yakult included with the order. The wasabi and soy sauce provided a great condiment to the raw fish. The fresh pickled ginger was my favorite as it wasn’t too spicy yet provided excellent contrast to the salmon.
