Came to try and honestly was decent. Service was friendly and fast and menu had a decent offering of items to pick from. Interior was whimsical and there was no wait. Ordered the California roll, sashimi, and crazy yamha. Overall decent and pretty fresh. They do serve cold edamame and bring you a sweet treat at the end.

Had a very nice date night here! The food was tasty (my favorite being the pork gyoza), the atmosphere and decor was nice, and we had the absolute best server! She was super nice and brought out complimentary spring rolls and cheesecake! I could really tell that she wanted us to have a good time and that she wanted us to come back. ❤️ I can’t comment on whether the sushi is “authentic,” but I think it fits the bill for American sushi.

Yamachen Shshi is the BEST sushi restaurant in the whole 757 Newport News area. MY Husband and I have went to this sushi restaurant countless of times and we enjoy ourselves every single time we even went twice in one day.❤️❤️
This is one of our favorite date night dinner spots, lol more so like our family tradition every other weekend .
They also give a nice dessert that’s on the house which would be a cheesecake of their choice and it is always amazing .

Surprise! Amazing place with every little tick box checked for your favorite every week (or every day) restaurant.
The sushi is fantastic, the sashimi lunch is fantastic. Rolls are well made and balanced. Menu is extensive without being overwhelming.
Miso soup is great. Tea is very pleasant.
Portions are very reasonable and the added touches – damage, spring rolls and the cheesecake (!) ensure the only thing that might feel empty when you leave is your self control.
Sake is very good and reasonably priced.
Service is excellent!

Fantastic experience and highly recommended. I enjoyed takoyaki and the spicy California roll. When I first sat down I was offered edamame, and with the check I received a couple cheesecake bites both for free, which was a welcome surprise.

Cutest sushi spot with great ambience and service. Sushi was fresh, fairly priced and SO GOOD. I’m originally from northern VA so this hidden gem exceeded my expectations! Had the best time visiting a friend who lives nearby and she regularly does take out from here. Our server even brought out complimentary egg rolls and cheesecake desserts!! Definitely will be back

Absolutely amazing experience! The sushi rolls were incredibly fresh, and you could truly taste the quality in every bite. The presentation was beautiful and made the entire meal feel special. Even though we placed our order as carryout, the service was fantastic — the young lady who assisted my husband and me was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. To top it off, the slice of cheesecake was outstanding and tasted scratch-made rather than something from a freezer or box. Everything was delicious, and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Really great sushi restaurant in Yorktown. We did have one roll that was coming apart and they let us know that that was the tofu wrapped/ nori free roll. It just did not stay together. But all the other rolls that were made with nori were excellent and fresh. I would really have liked the spicy mayo to have been spicy. It had no spice to it at all.
They were very generous and gave us edamani to begin with at the table when we sat down which was delicious and ended the meal with a slice of cheesecake to share which was a perfect serving size.

PHENOMENAL service – our glasses never got empty and the presentation, flavor, freshness etc was ON POINT. We ordered sushi boat number one and they threw in an extra roll on the house and then brought us a complementary slice of cheesecake at the end. I was literally wearing a sweatshirt and a ball cap with flip-flops and was worried I would not be dinner attire appropriate. No judgement from the staff . INCREDIBLE experience and new favorite sushi restaurant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
