Great food, great drinks, and an overall enjoyable dining experience. We really loved the sake and sushi — everything tasted fresh and high quality. The ambiance was stylish and welcoming, making it a nice spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Even though it’s a busy location, the service was fast, efficient, and attentive. Our waitress was friendly and made excellent drink recommendations that we ended up loving.
There was no wait when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, and the portion sizes were generous for the price. We left satisfied and impressed. We would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for fresh sushi, good drinks, and a great dining vibe.

Top of my list for Japanese. Our recent visit included a sampling of several dishes. The meal included dumplings, spring rolls, and a selection of sushi rolls. The dumplings were flavorful and served pan fried. Delicious. The spring rolls perfectly cooked. Crunchy and so good. The sauce is also well done. The sushi was a highlight of the meal. We ordered the Morrison and the Truffle. By far the truffle sushi choice is my favorite and will order again. The fish was fresh and of high quality. Overall, Yama is a good choice for Japanese food in Charlotte.

I’ll be honest — we didn’t enjoy our experience at Yama Sushi. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, and maybe our expectations were higher than what was delivered. The rolls were small and loosely made, with very little rice — we even had to order a side of rice to feel somewhat satisfied.
The fish was fresh, which I appreciated since I was a bit nervous after the sashimi, but thankfully we felt fine afterward. Still, the quality and presentation just didn’t match the price. Service felt impersonal, like no one really cared we were there for a special occasion.
Sadly, this place just wasn’t for us. Even my sons said they wouldn’t come back. You had one shot to win our hearts, and it didn’t happen. Disappointing overall.

We’ve been dining at Yama since it opened. It is by far the best Sushi, sashimi and nigiri we’ve had since moving to Charlotte from CT. Que the gym greets us every time we walk in. Only place I want to go when we eat out.

The fish is absolutely delicious! I loved everything. Such a wonderful quality of fish. I wouldn’t take the rolls(just go smwhere else place for that. Better try sashimi and nigiri instead. 1000/10 especially for its price.
The only thing I didn’t like are mochi dessert. Feels like they have been in the freezer for too long. Just wrong structure(not elastic dough), BUT the ice cream flavour is good.

Excellent restaurant in many ways: it has a clean and pleasant space, and you can also sit outside to enjoy the pleasant weather. Excellent customer service, the food is made with high quality ingredients and the fish is indescribable. Definitely an excellent place to go for a date or family dinner. It also has a separate room that can be reserved.

Excellent sushi and sashimi – something for everyone. And Very inexpensive for what you get in quality! I’m shocked at the prices actually – incredibly reasonable. Go to aps include gyoza and brussels sprouts and love the Morrison roll for a surf and turf experience. They serve a great Old Fashioned cocktail also.

I defiantly would like more flavor in the food and maybe shouldn’t have ordered tempura style veggies. I envisioned something else in mind and the batter on the veggies filled me very fast. I ended up giving up on the veggies and went for my sushi roll which was delicious. I love Sake and the bartender recommended a nice smooth one for us. I will go check out other locations in town.
