Honestly, this place is hands-down the best sushi in olive Annapolis area. The price point is amazing. The quality is even better and the overall flavor texture of every role. It’s just top quality. We come here twice a week for the last month now it’s been an addiction lol it might be in a weird location and not have a bar, but I promise the sushi is worth it.

Super impressed all around! Came in with a party of 3 on a Friday night, was seated immediately. Menu prices were very reasonable (drove in from the DC area) and fish was extremely fresh. We got a bunch of rolls, and the chef’s choice nigiri appetizer. Highly recommend their simple rolls! The rice to fish ratio was great and the rice was well seasoned. Service was impeccable and they are very well staffed.

They gave us a small cucumber wasabi appetizer and fruity gum with our check.

Our favorite things were the Alaska roll and the nigiri.

Parking lot was very busy, since it was a Friday night. Had to circle a few times to find a spot.

Overall, would definitely come back!

What a great experience. From the sake, to the dumplings (shrimp only), to the amazing speciality rolls. Everything tasted great and was served with a smile. Will be back.

We’ve been longtime fans of Yama Sushi Bar, often ordering takeout and already familiar with their fantastic menu and impeccable quality. Last Friday, my wife and I decided to dine in, and we’re so glad we did! We arrived around 8:20 PM on a busy Friday night, yet luck was on our side—we were seated quickly despite the packed house.
To start, we indulged in our all-time favorite appetizer, the Dinosaur Egg—a must-try for anyone visiting! For our main course, we stuck with our usual pick, the Love Boat, a beautifully presented sushi and sashimi platter that never disappoints. The course begins with a fresh salad, followed by comforting miso soup. Then, the star arrives: an elegant wooden boat filled with three pieces each of five different sushi varieties, three pieces each of five sashimi selections, and two delicious rolls of our choice. The display is simply stunning.
One of the standout qualities of Yama is their incredible commitment to freshness. I’ve never once encountered even the faintest fishy smell—everything tastes pristine and well-balanced. Their sushi differs slightly from traditional Japanese or Korean styles, as the wasabi isn’t placed beneath the fish on the shari the rice. However, this actually works in favor of customization since there are generous wasabi portions on the boat, allowing diners to adjust to their own preference.
Our experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and honestly, it makes us want to come back even more often! Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or just looking for a consistently great dining spot, Yama delivers on quality, taste, and presentation

Tucked into Annapolis, Yama is the kind of unassuming sushi bar that wins you over without theatrics. Both of my lunchtime visits have been comfortably busy, the room split between locals catching up over miso and businessmen hashing out deals over lunch plates. The soundtrack is a gentle stream of Japanese music— occasionally drowned out by conversation, but never enough to break the spell.

Service here is quietly superb: efficient, friendly, and never overbearing. The lunch specials are a steal— soup, salad, and a generous plate of sushi that’s fresh, balanced, and well-cut. On one visit, I strayed from my usual and went for the salmon teriyaki lunch plate. It arrived tender, lightly glazed, and as satisfying as the sushi.

The chefs pay attention— both to the food and the people eating it— and send you off with a genuine “thank you” that lingers just as pleasantly as the meal. For us, Yama feels less like a discovery and more like the start of a ritual. Five stars.

I’ve gone to this restaurant 37 times and yes I counted. This is the best sushi in Annapolis by far and it’s not close. The chicken teriyaki is not that good but it doesn’t matter because the sushi is so miraculous and tasty that It would just blow you out of water and you won’t even want to order chicken teriyaki.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yama Sushi absolutely delivered.

Everything we ordered was excellent, but the Christmas Tree Roll and the Caterpillar Roll were next-level. Beautiful presentation, incredibly fresh fish, and perfectly balanced flavors — creative without being overdone. Each bite tasted intentional, not just piled on for effect.

The rice was spot-on, the fish quality was obvious, and the rolls held together cleanly (which sounds small, but says a lot). You can tell there’s real care and skill behind the sushi here.

Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole experience felt polished without being pretentious. If you’re in Annapolis and want sushi that’s both memorable and consistently well-executed, Yama Sushi is a must.

We’ll absolutely be back.

This place truly deserves five stars, for the quality of the food especially for the price service and vibe. Fish tastes fresh and the rolls are not skimpy. Soup bowls filled to top too. Ten out of ten highly recommend when passing anywhere near Annapolis. The Dino egg is a cute idea and fun to get once. Lunch specials even more wallet friendly and tempura appt is under $6 for veggie, $7 for three shrimp with 3 veg!

Great food. Sushi was delicious. The dinosaur egg is worth trying. Delicious. It’s a small place and I’ve been by it thousands of times. Finally stopped in for lunch. They are not rushed. Take your time and relax.

Yama was a wonderful experience. Went on a Monday night and it was pretty busy, which just goes to show how good the food is. Our table had the gyoza and salmon tartar as appetizers, both were delicious. The ginger dressing on the salad was so good, I could eat it by the spoonful. The miso soup was full of seaweed and tofu, every bite was packed. I had the Yamasa roll. It was flavorful and the perfect level of spicy. The restaurant gave complimentary cucumber salads at the start of the meal and a fried bean paste dessert at the end – a lovely touch. Both were amazing. Everything was fairly priced, too. The service was great, our server was very helpful and patient. Thank you, Yama! I’ll be back.
