We started with gyoza and calamari. The calamari especially was surprising (in a good way) as they use a marinade I’ve not seen anywhere else (soy-based perhaps?). In between appetizers and the entree, I had pork dumpling soup, which featured four steamed and stuffed pork dumplings in a rich ginger(?) broth. The duck curry entree was both rich and subtly spicy in a way that builds without you noticing until your nose runs. The duck was crispy on the outside and extremely tender on the inside. We sat outdoors and the waitstaff were very attentive. We didn’t order any sushi, but the sushi boats I saw inside looked massive (imagine I’m holding my arms out to about 2-3 feet apart). Of the dishes I pilfered from around the table, there was pineapple fried rice, beef bulgolgi, and pad thai.

Everything I ate was delicious! I ordered a shrimp tempura sushi roll, miso soup, and the spicy basil fried rice with chicken. I’m adding this to my lunch spot list. It was not too crowded and the food came out fairly quick. The service was a little subpar for the amount of people in there so I deducted a star for this, but overall I would return and recommend.

Nice spot for sushi and some hot dishes. The sushi specials are especially creative and tasty. Great service and very welcoming vibe overall. Don’t skip on the desserts, they’re phenomenal.

My wife first introduced me to Yama back in 2016, on one of our first dates, and I loved it.

Since then, we have periodically returned, and always received caring service and consistently excellent sushi.

Recently, we marveled at how well-composed the rolls were and how the rice seemed perfect.

They even had a super cool looking sushi boat out for an event, it’s like nothing we had ever seen! We can’t wait to go back on another date.

Family favorite restaurant! The staff is seriously the best at Yama, and we have been coming for years and years. Salmon belly trio, gyoza, udon noodles, Mexican roll, and miso soup are some of our favorites. The food and service is both great, and consistent! and what a great location as well. Food travels well for pickup orders too. Love Yama!

Great service, very fast and kind. The food is absolutely top notch, everything was made to order in house and you can taste the difference. Great selection of wine/beer. Very laid back, casual environment but the staff take their jobs very seriously and the attention to detail is amazing. Highly recommended for those that appreciate great Asian food.

Yama Japanese Restaurant in Delray Beach comes across as a straightforward spot for a meal. The casual food is reliable and does the job without trying to impress, while the ambiance feels a bit down, lacking the energy you might expect from a lively sushi bar. Still, the food is correct—fresh enough and served as expected—making it a decent option if you’re simply looking for a no-frills Japanese bite rather than a full-on dining experience.

I am so pleasantly surprised! Almost shocked!!! They are across the street from Akira Back and have better sushi.

Friendly staff and cute location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

The Toro tuna is perfect! I want more.
Volcano roll with baked spicy Kani was delicious! Yum!
Spicy Yama roll was greatness!
Great hamachi jalapeño.
Loved the chicken teriyaki. Legitimately loved! Wasn’t just the regular but instead it felt like it was actually grilled.
Tom yum soup if you’re in the mood for spicy soup.

Street parking and also garage parking.

Big fan! We’ll be back!

Amazing Asian fusion restaurant. Prices are a bit high but normal for this area. The food is excellent and the service is amazing. The Korean seafood pancake was the star of the night, full of seafood and cooked crispy and perfect. The tuna poke was delicious as well! Will definitely have to return.
