First the good stuff. The sushi was excellent. Really enjoyed both dishes. The service was excellent but it took a long time after being seated for anyone to come around.
Now some other stuff. First the restaurant is dated and really needs a redecoration. Even the outside sign made us think twice if we really want to go inside. The shrimp pad Thai was really underwhelming. Overcooked shrimp and lacked in taste. Stick to Sushi

My Aunt who’s a local recommended this spot for lunch. Ginger dressing salad (not pictured due to consumption), Thai edamame, spicy tuna roll, salmon avocado roll, and eel cucumber roll were all SO good and fresh. Will definitely be returning!

Despite the restaurant being slow on a Friday night, this had to be some of the best sushi roll and sashimi I’ve had. The sashimi (tuna, yellow tail, and smoked salmon) were among the freshest you could find at a Japanese restaurant. The service is quick, friendly, and frequent so you never feel ignored by your servers. Fairly priced and well worth it. I highly recommend trying Yama

Man, used to be my go to place when I was in the area. Complete rip off now. The website online order is misleading. You pay like 8 dollars for ONE PIECE, not roll of sushi. I ordered 4 coming to like 35 bucks thinking I was going to get 4 rolls. Show up, she shows me a picture and I didn’t know what she was saying. But I pay and come to find out it’s 4 individual pieces. So I guess she was showing me a picture and told me it’s 4 individual pieces but I had no idea what she was saying from the heavy accent. So if they know they have to show a picture and tell people… that says a lot. I’m done going here such a rip off

Listen, I 1000% understand that costs for everything have gone up. But a cucumber roll that used to cost $4 now is $8. Markup isnt a couple dollars but they DOUBLED their prices for almost everything. Not only that but the quantity is MUCH MUCH smaller.
We loved this place. We would pick up from here a few times a month.

This sushi was fantastic! I think this is our new favorite sushi place. We had all sushi items. Our friends visited a few days before and they said Yama has the best friend rice they have ever had. I was happy with everything, the decor, the service, and definitely the food!! We will be back.

Stop right here….this place is amazing! Forget the pizza, forget the pasta come to Yama! It’s all freshly made. The sushi was top notch. The udon noodles were outstanding. Maybe different options to choose from! Great service and clean inside! Come on by today and check it out.

Wonderful, casual restaurant with fantastic food! The servers are friendly and attentive! Our food always arrives quickly and is beautifully plated! My husband said the sushi is the freshest and most delicious he has ever had, and my shrimp teriyaki is always excellent! The menu prices are very reasonable and they have a lot of options! It’s one of our favorite places in Ventnor!

This may have been the worst sushi ive ever had in my life. On top of being over priced for what you get, everything had a horrific taste. I ordered a bunch of sushi that tasted old, and toro tartare. If you know what toro is supposed to look like, it doesn’t resemble canned cat food. I highly recommend never stepping foot in this place.
