The calamari here is the best I’ve ever had and man, I called myself a calamari fiend. Their Tori Kara-age popcorn chicken is unique, crispy and it came out hot off the stove. The duck? Amazing. I also enjoyed a Lychie Berry drink. This was a lovely experience.

The food is excellent and well-presented. The service was fast and friendly. The hibachi was great, though the sushi, according to the people I was with, was good but not the best they’ve had. Overall, it was good enough that we’d go back, but maybe not for dinner because if you’re looking for a nice night out with a quiet atmosphere, this isn’t it. It’s not the restaurant’s fault, but we happen to be sitting near not one, not two, but three families with small children. We surely didn’t expect that on a Friday night! One family’s kids were screaming and throwing temper tantrums for so long, the father actually left and returned with McDonald’s Happy Meals! It quieted them down for a few minutes, but the spoiled brats eventually continued screaming at their parents! Otherwise, we may have had a perfect night.

I’ve driven past Yama for years but never went. A friend recommended i try it— glad she did! I was impressed by the quality of fish… fresh with a nice variety. They didn’t overwhelm you with too much rice either. Our server Christine was very knowledgeable about the menu and sake. I will return!

Hibachi lovers beware! This is high priced, low seasoned Hibachi. It’s in a nice area where a lot of times the food is mediocre. My server Justice was amazing. It was my first time and nothing to come back about except her customer service. Do yourself a favor and go to the affordable hibachi that’s seasoned to your expectation.

We went early and the service was better. The sushi choices were varied and very tasty. Quiet enough to talk.

Dinner with the fam! Love going to Yama when in the mood for sushi. My go to is the rainbow roll and Salmon nigiri. Also had the yellow tail nigiri (second favorite). Tried one of the specials, Salmon belly, but I’m still not sure how I feel about it. We were told it was smoked, but it came out cooked. So a bit misleading. Definitely prefer my salm raw. Tried their Lychee martini, and that was delish!

Love this place! I always get the hibachi dinner portion for lunch because it comes with a clear soup that’s simple but so delicious!

For our meal we ordered 2 Yama Sushi Bowls, H&M, Snow – not pictured (Yellow tail, tuna, salmon, avocado, masago wrapped in soy paper), Sunset and Smoke Salmon.
