Unfortunately, quite a disappointing experience. We came here given the wonderful reviews, but the food and the café didn’t really meet our expectations. Food is a bit pricey for the portions, and the café doesn’t really leave you with an authentic feeling. The inside is quite weird and doesn’t really reflect the culture it wants to represent, it’s a bunch of random stuff hanged on the walls, random drawings, fake plants, etc.
The smoothie was very good though.
Honestly I wouldn’t come back, and I would skip it if visiting LA. I think there are definitely better options for Oaxacan food in the city.
Chilaquiles Al Campo: 3/5. They were ok.
Taco Combo (shrimp option): 3/5. Again, they were ok.
Smoothie: 5/5. Very good.

Although I didn’t eat here I wish I did, the menu had extensive Oaxacan cuisine. I bought two drinks: Go Green! And the Hibiscus . The Go green was perfect, I loved the kick of ginger and the Hibiscus was so refreshing. The service was lovely, super friendly. I hope next time I’m in LA I come back

All I can say is Yummy! I just returned from Mexico City, where I ate some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. I was still craving Mexican food when I got home to Santa Monica And so I went to this restaurant for breakfast for Huevos Rancheros. It was excellent. This will become a weekly breakfast spot for me. I’m also anxious to try their lunch menu.

place lives up to the hype. breakfast burrito was phenomenal and staff were so welcoming / kind. they also had a homemade hot sauce that was way better than cholula.

Excellent quality and flavor, so glad we tried this place!! My wife got a burrito with cecina (chile marinated pork) and mole and I got the Oaxacan panini which is really just a torta, also with cecina. Will definitely eat here again any time, delicious! The smoothies are also made fresh and amazing. Better than a lot of the smoothie shops we tried.

I stopped by Yagul Cafe and had my first ever Oaxacan latte, it was a very big cup, full of flavor and just the right amount of spice. Such a pleasant surprise! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was incredibly comforting and delicious.
Everyone at the cafe was so friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu!

Extremely clean, well presented, and delicious homemade Oaxacan fare. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Great spread of juices/coffees/healthy beverage options as well. Feels family run. Everyone is kind and knowledgeable, and they are happy to tweak dishes at your request. Small place so best for groups of 4 or less. Probably seats 30 people total, with two outdoor tables (2 and 4-top)

Last day in Santa Monica and decided to try this place for breakfast before I head downtown to my conference. So glad I did as I was not disappointed.
The coffee was delicious. I’m trying to pin down the flavor and I can’t but it’s the best coffee I’ve had in a while.
For food I decided to go with Eliseo’s Scramble which is chicken sausage, mozzarella, caramelized onions, avocado, pico de gallo and was served with potatoes & whole wheat tortilla. It was so good and I scarfed it down after wrapping everything in my burrito which was plenty large enough to do so. Perfectly heated and warmed so rolling was easy.
Love this place!
