Before I start, I want to share that the Yaad Style in Middletown NY where I have eaten many of times, I have never had an issue which is what prompted me to go to Yaad Style in Cornwall. So today 9/6/2025 I go there with a few family members and the kid that was there was young and seemed somewhat inexperienced but its ok he is young and had a job so Kudos to him. It was approx 7:30pm, I ordered small curry chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. I got my food after a few minor fumbles from the kid and decided to dine in with my family. 1st the rice and peas was dry and hard, you can tell it was sitting in the steam table for a looong time, but whatever I figured its 7:30pm so it is pretty late so I kept eating. Then I started picking at the chicken and noticed the top layer was a little pink but again I just ignored it and took a other bite when I noticed the chicken was RED inside, not pink but RED. Now I am a little annoyed, I put the piece of chicken to the side and went to eat another piece of chicken and this time I cut it open with the fork before taking a bite and that piece was also RED inside. I got up and took the piece to the young kid and showed him how raw the chicken was and told him someone is going to get sick, he stared at me for a few seconds and said “I am not the cook.” I said to him “please tell the chef about this raw chicken” so he says I am sorry and turns around to another guy in the kitchen and tells him about the raw chicken and he sits back down near the cash register, picks up his phone and starts scrolling. They obviously didn’t know what to do, maybe lack of training or lack of caring but totally just went about their way and didnt address my concern. My sister who was with me and ordered the curry chicken with white rice cut her chicken open and her chicken was also very raw. Given the lack of response I got, we decided to just pack the food up and go home so that we can attempt to finish cooking the chicken. I was offered a refund, I wasn’t offered a new plate in exchange for the one I had, I wasn’t even given much of a response. To say I was disappointed with the food and customer service is an understatement. Maybe it was just a one off however these employees should have more training on what to do in these situations. I will never come to this specific location ever again and to anyone who cares to read this review, if you decide to come here to eat, just make sure you cut open the chicken before putting it in your mouth.
UPDATE: The owner or manager reached out to me after this was posted and apologized and offered to make things right. I never went back but solely because I do not live in the area. But the effort was made… much appreciated so I updated service portion of this review to 5.

Was surprised (and skeptical) to try a Jamaican place in Cornwall, but Yaadstyle really exceeded our expectations. Food was amazing, flavorful, and fresh. Goat with curry was our favorite by far. Portions are huge.

Thank God my town has something other than the Holy Trinity of Northern Suburban food ( Italian, Chinese and Mexican). We finally have a Caribbean restaurant in Cornwall and it doesn’t disappoint.
I got jerk pork, rice and beans with some oxtail gravy on it, cabbage and plantain for $17. Simply delicious. So much food I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting. The place is beautiful and immaculate.
Warning .. if you are not used to jerk food like pork and chicken, be careful because it will bring a pleasant tear to your eyes.

1st visit here for takeout. We got a oxtail dinner and also a jerk and barbecue chicken dinner. Came witb rice, cabbage and plantains. All of the food was flavorful. Glad this resturant has opened in the area. We definitely plan to be back soon.

I did a DoorDash delivery. I seen their instagram they have jerk pork however it’s not listed on DoorDash site. I proceeded to call the restaurant to see how I can go about ordering the jerk pork and also confirm to put all the sauces and gravy to the side because I have food sensitivity and sauces and gravy is a no for me. I also told him I’m a new customer, so I would think you would pay extra close attention to the details of my order. When this food delivered I was shocked I got everything I didn’t want. All of it in the garbage. And it did not look appealing like instagram either. He said it was an honest mistake after I just spoke to you about it. It was an honest mistake ordering from here. I did receive a refund never again

Just happen to see this place next to Dollar General market,, thought I’d give it a try and it was well worth it. The food was fresh hot flavorful the chicken was juicy very authentic the gentleman behind the counter super nice guy first time I’ve ever seen a sparked up conversation. He keeps his restaurant extremely clean as well. Give it a try if you’re in the area.

I moved upstate from the city since 2018. This is by far the best Jamaican food I ever had in this area compared to others upstate. Food and service are a 10/10! Definitely try it out.

The food here is excellent! We tried three dishes (jerk chicken, curry goat, and oxtail) and they were all cooked to perfection. The curry goat was the best and absolutely unreal. The portions are also plentiful

A former coworker put me on to the Middletown location a couple years ago and it was fantastic. We would cater from there for our bbq’s and gatherings and always stop in whenever we were local. Looking to cater again a few months ago, we called the Middletown location who happily referred us to their new and closer to us location here in Cornwall. My husband and I have been coming here on a semi-weekly basis since, mainly for the bbq fried chicken or the stew chicken. The employees are very friendly, the service has never been an issue and the food has always been cooked well. The only “negative” is them running out of an order we want before we get there Definitely a happy customer, and our guests who eat the catered food also enjoy it every time so we will definitely continue to go back for my family lunch/dinners and our events in the future. Truly pray all the success to the Cornwall location as there aren’t that many great places to get Jamaican food (that tastes good, portioned right for the price and has friendly service) in the Newburgh area.
