Server was SO nice. Atmosphere cute, but a bit empty. Food OK. They charged us $5 for bread (which you have to ask for) to dip in the shrimp/mussel sauce; not sure I have ever seen that before and you will never see that in a traditional tapas eatery (e.g., Newark).

We all got sick from this food the next day. When we initially looked for a place for Mother’s Day dinner, we came across this place on Resy. It had many spots available and we should have known that this was a red flag. We started by ordering a sangria that was mostly boxed juice and three pieces of fruit. The appetizer tapas were very small even for 2 people and had no gastronomic look, feel or taste. I tried compensating for this by ordering entree sized plates next and things got even worse. The two people that came out from the kitchen (not our waitress) brought our plates and threw them on the table without even acknowledging us or saying a word. The food was terrible and all the portions were off. When the bill came, it was an exorbitant amount for a place so questionable like this one. I doubt that these people are true Galicians as they did not know anything about the cuisine, traditions or hospitality of Spaniard people.

Absolutely the worst Spanish Dining experience I’ve ever had. Do not be bamboozled by their description of Spanish style tapas. There is ZERO authenticity to their food, ambience, and presentation. They must have just copied their description of a Tapas restaurant off the internet. As someone Spanish, I was absolutely embarrassed to bring my family here for Mother’s Day. Do yourself a favor and just head over to NYC and find yourself a true Tapas experience.

Nice local tapas spot! We enjoyed the croquetas, chorizo, skirt steak, and pementos piquillo recheos. The empanada was more of a pot pie type of dish which wasn’t our favorite. Great service overall.

Need to go back, the patadas bravas were killer, the steak was perfectly cooked and the grilled chicken and rice was great

Great dinner for a group of friends. We had the waitress order our dinner and everything was delicious.

Xunta is one of my favorite restaurants in the West Essex area. Come for the addicting patacas bravas and chourizo a prancha; stay for the gracious warmth and hospitality that makes you feel right at home. I’ve dined here solo, in small parties of 3-4, and as a part of a 17-person gathering for my dad’s 60th birthday, and not once has Xunta’s team disappointed.

The food was absolutely delicious. Would definitely return. It’s best to try a variety of tapas portioned dishes.

Meager, skimpy portions that are badly prepared and undercooked. Overpriced. Ugly interior. I’ve had tapas in reputable restaurants and THIS is not it. Will not return.

This is not a welcoming place and is way overpriced for the poor service and unappetizing dishes. Despite having a reservation and arriving when the restaurant was still relatively empty, we were seated at a table close to the front door. Not wanting to sit in a draft when patrons arrived, I asked the waitress to be moved to another table, and she kindly obliged; but the owner/manager quickly intervened and rudely insisted that the appointed table was our only choice. Although her attitude put a damper on our celebratory evening, my husband and I each ordered a starter–neither dish was appetizing, so we asked for the bill. When we left, there were still many tables open, so I approached the owner/manager (female) to point this out. She just shrugged her shoulders and said, “This restaurant is obviously not for you.” Well, no ‘mam, it’s not.
