Salmon seemed to be a grilled from a frozen- fillet. Mac and cheese could have benefitted from a sharper cheese. Green beans were delicious. Salad was bland and only have lettuce, carrot slices, and 3 tomatoes. Burger was tasty. The best option was the herb chicken. Chicken was juicy and flavorful.
No reservations required, this is like a dining hall with kiosks to order food.

We were staying at Lake Lodge, and had one late dinner and three breakfasts at Wylie’s Canteen. For all meals, you order at a kiosk and pick up your order by number at a counter – not fancy but it works. The dinner menu is mostly burgers with a few other choices. But between the meat and “fixings” choices, there are a decent number of options. Our burgers were OK – not great but OK. Breakfast is mostly breakfast sandwiches, but there is also decent oatmeal, and a few other options. Again, the number of choices you have for meat, egg, and cheese, sides like yogurt, fruit, and hash browns, and beverages like coffee, tea, milk, juice, and water give you a decent number of options. The breakfast was good (better than OK). The staff was generally helpful and pleasant. But the star here is the location – the large open room with rustic log construction, the view of the lake out the large windows, and the occasional bison wandering by outside. Overall, Wylie’s is a decent option for simple meals, especially if you’re staying at Lake Lodge.

We had some truly bad food around Yellowstone so in seeing the 3 star review here, I expected the same. So when the chicken Sandwhiches we got here came out as fresh and delicious as they did, it was a very pleasant surprise. They were light and full of flavour, made with quality ingredients and a real bit of chicken breast. The ordering system was easy with lots of customisation options, everything you needed as far as condiments, drinks etc were accessible and the dining room was nice overlooking the lake. When we finished our Sandwhiches we very nearly ordered a second one each they were that nice. Prices were good for the area too.

Was not real crazy about how you go to the register to order and then stand in line fir your number to be called but it was ok. The view from the dining area is spectacular. I had the Bison brat with chili and cheese and it was good. My wife had the hamburger and it was pretty dry. Would go back mainly for the atmosphere.

Just opened back up from winter, so there were no crowds (5.18.25). Nice. Cafeteria style ordering but a nice dining area with a great view of the lake. All the burgers in Yellowstone are overdone (food safety), so don’t expect much. Chili was good though with fries. Not sure why people are complaining about feeding a family of 6 for $75!!!

Had our bill been under $50 to feed my family (with four kids) this would have been a five-star review. However, given that it was $75, it’s only four – too pricey!

That said, the burgers were good, as were the fries. The atmosphere was that of a cafeteria – slightly chaotic, put in your order and pick up you food when your number is called. Self-service drinks meant that the kids got their fill of orange soda and Sprite.

As we were in Yellowstone late that day, the key was that they were open later than most other restaurants and relatively close to where we were touring. The lodge itself is magnificent and the sunset view from the front porch was amazing!

1/5 means I do not recommend coming here ever, and I would rather skip a meal than eat here

I grabbed a meal here while staying in the associated cabins. The menu consists of hotdogs and hamburgers. I got a hamburger and I genuinely couldn’t taste it. It was just a block of brown mush. The cafeteria was dirty, badly lit, and desperately understaffed. This establishment was extremely below average, compared to the restaurants in other national parks such as Big Bend and Denali. The employees were doing their best, but they simply didn’t have the resources required to produce decent food. The restaurant in the larger Lodge across the street is better, but they seem to be reservations-only much of the time.

It was the first day open this season. The staff was very friendly. They were out of chili for the Chili Cheese Fries, so I opted to get the Cheese Fries. I sincerely enjoyed the texture of the cheese sauce, but it lacked flavor. The Vanilla Milkshake and Fountain drinks were excellent. I haven’t tried my Double Local Beef Burger yet but it looks good. Condiments are fond off to the side with Ketchup and Mustard packets as well as Mayo and Ketchup at a pump.

Our family ate breakfast at Wylies two mornings and enjoyed the food and views both days. I had biscuits and gravy both mornings which did not disappoint. My kids had a variety of cereal, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, bacon and glazed donuts.

You order using a kiosk and the food was ready fast. From the dining room window we saw Elk and a coyote. Also, amazing views of the lake.

FOOD: Pretty tasty burgers and fries, with various options for toppings and the like. Decent soda fountain and milk shakes.

SERVICE: After looking over a menu board in front (which does a pretty decent job of describing things), you then go to a POS system to order your food, and the descriptions and organization don’t match the menu (which is through a doorway and out of sight). I had to redo a couple of items realizing that I had incorrectly selected incorrectly.

Then, having ordered, you either pay at the kiosk or at a check-out point.

Then you wait for your order to be called to take your tray.

It’s all a bit janky, but, in their defense, we did have service people come by the table after we had brought our own food over to confirm we had everything we needed. And they did bus our tables, which was nice.

AMBIANCE: Old school, kind of dark, classic national park interior, with gorgeous view out the front of Yellowstone Lake. Could use a nice scrub, but overall quite pleasant.

NET-NET: Not great, but not bad, either — certainly better than the mess in the food hall up at Canyon Lodge, and this is just the backup restaurant for the Lake. I would definitely return again.
