Reviews
The food was incredibly fresh—you can really taste the quality in every dish. We started with the charcuterie tray because we wanted something light, and it was the perfect way to begin. My husband ordered the pork chop and I had the halibut chowder—both were amazing. Then we finished with dessert: the chocolate cookie and the vanilla cashew crème. I have to say, as someone with a serious sweet tooth, the desserts were probably my favorite part of the meal.
What made our evening truly special was our waitress, Elizabeth. She was absolutely amazing. So attentive, so knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely sweet. She took the time to explain dishes, made great recommendations, and really made my husband feel celebrated on his birthday. You can tell she loves what she does, and that kind of service makes all the difference.
The whole atmosphere felt welcoming and comfortable. This is the kind of place where you feel taken care of, from the food to the service. We left happy and full, already talking about when we could come back.
If you’re looking for a great meal in Bishop Arts with service that goes above and beyond, I highly recommend Written by the Seasons. And if Elizabeth is your server, you’re in for a real treat.
Overall experience was excellent, vibe, atmosphere, mood, and food is a must try!
Our only real complaint was service. The server really did not check on us enough and they missed one of our ordered appetizers.

We came back after a previous visit during the Summer Menu that was just okay, and wow — what a difference! Everything this time was incredible. The Wild Mushrooms and Wilted Onions were packed with flavor — sweet, garlicky, and perfectly cooked. The Steak and Potatoes with Chimichurri was amazing — the steak was perfectly medium rare, and the potatoes were the star of the show! The Cod Chowder was hearty and delicious, and the Pavlova (with the fall twist of nuts and berries) was the perfect finish.
Every dish felt made with love, our server was spectacular, and the fall food menu is a must-try.
**The cocktail menu us been hit or miss for us both times. This time we ordered the harvest moon cocktail to start but to us it tasted more like a watered down cider with a hint of whiskey so we returned it and ordered old fashions that were lovely.
Summer Menu Review:
We dined here for my husband’s birthday on September 6. I ordered the scallops and risotto and my husband had the seared haddock. Two of the four scallops were over cooked. When the waitress came at the end of the meal and asked how it tastes we told her about the scallops ~ she left and came back and offered new scallops but we were ready to leave at that time so we declined. I was also surprised that the accompanying sides were in salad form. If I had been told prior I definitely would have picked a different entree. In my opinion that entree should have cost at maximum $30. The haddock had very little flavor however the blistered tomatoes were sensational. The Ginny’s Garden cocktail tasted exactly like the garden. I would liken it to an alcoholic green juice. The star of the night was the free dessert surprisingly. We also got the charcuterie board which was beautiful and the pickled watermelon rinds were surprisingly tasty.
We were so excited to try this restaurant with all its positive reviews. However, I do not plan on returning as the product was not worth the price in our opinion.
Unfortunately, despite calling ahead and reminding the waiter that I’m vegetarian, I was still served meat on my plate, which was disappointing after communicating it a few times. The manager did apologize.
It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the overall quality of the food and the ambiance make it worth the cost.
I brought my boyfriend here for our valentines day date yesterday, as we have a busy weekend full of performances and other commitments.
From the beginning, we had the best time, as everyone welcomed us professionally and warmly.
We had a reservation for 8 pm, but arrived early and saw that there was ample available seating on the patio, so we asked if it was possible to sit outside and were promptly seated by the hostesses.
Our waiter greeted us and informed us of the menu and how it works, as it was our first time at this establishment. The menu rotates based on the availability of ingredients hence the name “Written by the Seasons” so the menu had items like pumpkin flatbreads that may not otherwise be available.
We were informed that our selections would be coursed out as the evening progressed depending on our choices and everything was perfectly paced. Allergens were discussed, and accomodations were made accordingly.
We started with the grilled leeks and pork ribs which were the perfect counterbalance to each other. The grilled leeks with burrata had a wonderful acidity and texture due to the added greens and well toasted breadcrumbs. The ribs were savory and unctuous, with a fork tender bite (tendernism anyone?).
We accompanied these with the winter mojito and spicy sunrise mocktail.
For our mains we shared the kimchi glass noodles, duck confit, and grilled porkchop. Each cooked well to perfection, each with their accompanying greens, root vegetables, and rice as described. We had the mushrooms on the side as well, and let me tell you, these mushrooms were a highlight on their own. They could be a standalone vegan option as a main if the portion were larger.
We finished with the ganache tart and sticky toffee pudding – when I tell you I almost fell out of my chair with how mind blowing the dessert was. The sticky toffee pudding was the best with a scoop of ice cream that was DEEPLY flavored with vanilla, it had that texture of a in-house prepared ice cream. MY EYES ROLLED BACK INTO MY HEAD!
We are definitely going back next year and will likely make this spot our go to valentines day outing, as long as the restaurant exists.
