My husband and I visited Written by the Seasons in Bishop Arts for his birthday, and it was such a wonderful experience.
The food was incredibly fresh—you can really taste the quality in every dish. We started with the charcuterie tray because we wanted something light, and it was the perfect way to begin. My husband ordered the pork chop and I had the halibut chowder—both were amazing. Then we finished with dessert: the chocolate cookie and the vanilla cashew crème. I have to say, as someone with a serious sweet tooth, the desserts were probably my favorite part of the meal.
What made our evening truly special was our waitress, Elizabeth. She was absolutely amazing. So attentive, so knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely sweet. She took the time to explain dishes, made great recommendations, and really made my husband feel celebrated on his birthday. You can tell she loves what she does, and that kind of service makes all the difference.
The whole atmosphere felt welcoming and comfortable. This is the kind of place where you feel taken care of, from the food to the service. We left happy and full, already talking about when we could come back.
If you’re looking for a great meal in Bishop Arts with service that goes above and beyond, I highly recommend Written by the Seasons. And if Elizabeth is your server, you’re in for a real treat.

Local Sourdough was very good.. My only gripe with it is that it was cold.. Never been served cold bread like that so that was a miss unfortunately. The Grilled Shrimp and Avocado was good. The fresh produce/fruits made the salad what it was.. They have a coconut type of dressing which is good.. Couple months back they had a tom khai type salad dressing which was phenomenal.. I hope they bring that back.. Also got the Wild Mushrooms and those were good. We got the Duck Confit as well and it was alright. I was expecting a more authentic red curry.. Duck portions were good though. Service was alright. Our waiter seemed to be giving more attention to the solo female diner more than us and as a result, neglected us

This was hands down one of the best steaks I’ve had. Extremely juicy and tender perfect to the bite. The potatoes were out of this world. Hats off to the chef for this plate because it was definitely delicious, cleaned this plate and left nothing on it. The service was extremely exceptional as well, my waitress Elizabeth was very nice, guiding me through the menu and explaining the style and food of the restaurant in details. After I destroyed the plate, she offered some amazing desserts which sounded delicious but I was very satisfied but would still recommend trying the dessert.

Overall experience was excellent, vibe, atmosphere, mood, and food is a must try!

When I first arrived I was acknowledged right away by a host that first asked where I would like to be seated. He provided the option of outside or indoor tables, which I took the inside table seating that was candle lit. I was soon putting a order in with the lovely Amanda. Since it was my first time there, she explained the concept of the restaurant’s menu, which is brilliant. I had a cocktail and the drink was brought to the table by the mixologist and the Gimlet was perect. My meal, scallops and risotto arrived nice and hot. It was very delicious and so was the dessert -double chocolate chip cookie pie w/champagne is to die for! Amanda checked on me several times to see if all was good and if I needed anything else. The whole team that served the dinner during my visit was very professional and as I was leaving thanked me for coming by and invited me to return. I will definitely visit again; I had such a great experience thank you!

This restaurant is on Fire ! The food, wine and vibe were all on point. A venue (like no-other), food portion and servers is worth our returning. More so, our Lady- “J” (Jo-Jo) was very knowledgeable about the wine choices and had a smile that melt ice. I highly recommend this spot!

The restaurant had a wonderful ambiance. Great location in Bishop Arts District. The food was very good. We had the scallops, which was delicious. The steak was very well cooked. The haddock was very crisp and tasty. The duck confit was good but the side that came with it didn’t pair well.

Our only real complaint was service. The server really did not check on us enough and they missed one of our ordered appetizers.

UPDATE!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We came back after a previous visit during the Summer Menu that was just okay, and wow — what a difference! Everything this time was incredible. The Wild Mushrooms and Wilted Onions were packed with flavor — sweet, garlicky, and perfectly cooked. The Steak and Potatoes with Chimichurri was amazing — the steak was perfectly medium rare, and the potatoes were the star of the show! The Cod Chowder was hearty and delicious, and the Pavlova (with the fall twist of nuts and berries) was the perfect finish.

Every dish felt made with love, our server was spectacular, and the fall food menu is a must-try.
**The cocktail menu us been hit or miss for us both times. This time we ordered the harvest moon cocktail to start but to us it tasted more like a watered down cider with a hint of whiskey so we returned it and ordered old fashions that were lovely.

Summer Menu Review:
We dined here for my husband’s birthday on September 6. I ordered the scallops and risotto and my husband had the seared haddock. Two of the four scallops were over cooked. When the waitress came at the end of the meal and asked how it tastes we told her about the scallops ~ she left and came back and offered new scallops but we were ready to leave at that time so we declined. I was also surprised that the accompanying sides were in salad form. If I had been told prior I definitely would have picked a different entree. In my opinion that entree should have cost at maximum $30. The haddock had very little flavor however the blistered tomatoes were sensational. The Ginny’s Garden cocktail tasted exactly like the garden. I would liken it to an alcoholic green juice. The star of the night was the free dessert surprisingly. We also got the charcuterie board which was beautiful and the pickled watermelon rinds were surprisingly tasty.
We were so excited to try this restaurant with all its positive reviews. However, I do not plan on returning as the product was not worth the price in our opinion.

Great food and a really inviting atmosphere. The bread was delicious, and the rosemary-infused water added a subtle, refreshing touch that made the experience feel elevated from the start.

Unfortunately, despite calling ahead and reminding the waiter that I’m vegetarian, I was still served meat on my plate, which was disappointing after communicating it a few times. The manager did apologize.

It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the overall quality of the food and the ambiance make it worth the cost.

This restaurant is wondrous!

I brought my boyfriend here for our valentines day date yesterday, as we have a busy weekend full of performances and other commitments.

From the beginning, we had the best time, as everyone welcomed us professionally and warmly.

We had a reservation for 8 pm, but arrived early and saw that there was ample available seating on the patio, so we asked if it was possible to sit outside and were promptly seated by the hostesses.

Our waiter greeted us and informed us of the menu and how it works, as it was our first time at this establishment. The menu rotates based on the availability of ingredients hence the name “Written by the Seasons” so the menu had items like pumpkin flatbreads that may not otherwise be available.

We were informed that our selections would be coursed out as the evening progressed depending on our choices and everything was perfectly paced. Allergens were discussed, and accomodations were made accordingly.

We started with the grilled leeks and pork ribs which were the perfect counterbalance to each other. The grilled leeks with burrata had a wonderful acidity and texture due to the added greens and well toasted breadcrumbs. The ribs were savory and unctuous, with a fork tender bite (tendernism anyone?).

We accompanied these with the winter mojito and spicy sunrise mocktail.

For our mains we shared the kimchi glass noodles, duck confit, and grilled porkchop. Each cooked well to perfection, each with their accompanying greens, root vegetables, and rice as described. We had the mushrooms on the side as well, and let me tell you, these mushrooms were a highlight on their own. They could be a standalone vegan option as a main if the portion were larger.

We finished with the ganache tart and sticky toffee pudding – when I tell you I almost fell out of my chair with how mind blowing the dessert was. The sticky toffee pudding was the best with a scoop of ice cream that was DEEPLY flavored with vanilla, it had that texture of a in-house prepared ice cream. MY EYES ROLLED BACK INTO MY HEAD!

We are definitely going back next year and will likely make this spot our go to valentines day outing, as long as the restaurant exists.

Highly recommended to me and it didn’t disappoint. Kris knows a lot about wine and the dishes. She was fun and attentive to details. The ambiance is very pretty with romantic, covered outdoor seating and open air areas as well as indoor seating. My dishes were complex and flavorful. They accommodated gluten and dairy allergies well. Noting it when serving the dish which is always appreciated for extra confirmation. There was a nice hum of chatter in the restaurant. I snagged a photo of the customized espresso martini of the person seated beside me. Noting that Kris was detailed, skilled, and attentive to what the individual was requesting. Curating her own espresso martini. Thank you for a great experience!
