Love the food here! The cornbread was drizzled with honey and butter which goes so well. It was moist and just becomes addicting.
The meatloaf was so savory but juicy. The gravy did not overshadow the star of the dish. All the sides are so delicious, so highly recommend getting their main dishes to get two sides of your choice.
Staff was kind, and gave instant vibes of family comfort.

My first time coming to this restaurant and definitely won’t be my last! I got the jerk chicken w/cabbage and rice and peas, the salmon w/ mashed potatoes and collard greens. The sweet chili wings, and the crab fries with shrimp. The jerk chicken was seasoned, flavorful and spicy (yummy). The salmon was well cooked and delicious, as was the collard greens and potatoes. The chili wings are to die for ( omg sooo good) and the crab fries were tasty, as was the soul food supreme egg rolls ( they were crispy on the outside and crazy good ). I also got the passion fruit lemonade which was really refreshing. I will definitely be coming back for more.

First time here and OMG!!!! First the service was OUTSTANDING! The owner was this amazing young man who catered to my family and I like no other! The food is absolutely delicious especially their Mac and Cheese, it’s literally the best I’ve ever had! The fried oyster mushrooms were chefs kiss! I highly recommend this restaurant and their food!

I celebrated my birthday at this restaurant with my family back in Feb.2024. Service was amazing, the staff was amazing, my family fell in love with the Owners!!! They were very accommodating even went and got sturdy chairs for those that were extra thick!! It was such an amazing experience My review is so late because NOBODY had pictures of the food we all killed our plates!!!! The food was fire, you hear me fire!!!! Mac n cheese was on point, that honey cornbread delicious!!
Everything was amazing my family is still talking about how good the food was. I really wish we lived closer just to be able to order as frequently as needed. Even kids said the food was a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend!!!

When you crave soul food, like the Soulful Sunday kind, find your way over to the WRIGHT KIND OF SOUL. . The outdoor string lights spotlight its dine alfresco curb appeal. Its Hillside, NJ dwelling place has plenty of seating for a good time. The black/gold tables and bench decor accentuate deep Banker’s green walls. Luther Vandross music to relax to would be the cherry on top.
I found fresh made to order authentic soul food lunch & dinner ie. chicken whiting, ribs, potato salad, Mac and cheese, candied yams and collard greens; even appetizers like salmon bites — over fresh mixed greens! The cornbread is so fluffy, you can share a square like the one I tried for the first time (Chef’s treat – thanks!) I shared with another nice customer along with friendly conversation.
The staff is busy, friendly and on top of things. They handle business. But if you want to grab and go, I would call ahead. You can sit on a bench with strawberry lemonade, an appetizer or a slice of cake (Lemon cake ). There is a positive vibe.
My husband enjoyed the fried whiting, chicken sandwiches, I go for the grilled salmon. The collards were not mean greens bitter! The salmon bites were fried but not greasy at all or bready. Great because I have cut out fried food & avoid cooking salt so I have to remember to ask for a less seasoning. I’m happy to see young people doing things right and I wish them all the best success

Food is very good! Staff is super friendly. We had the whiting, shrimp, mac & cheese, potato salad, sweet chili wings and salmon bites… ALL EXCELLENT!

I called” WRIGHT KIND OF SOUL” I ordered 2 seafood meals fried shrimp with collard greens and Mac and cheese & fried whiting sandwich with fries the cost was $41.00 I left a $4 tip
When I arrived home and opened my bags I discovered there were NO CONDIMENTS!! NO
Ketchup! NO hot sauce and NO tartar sauce!
I called back to “WRIGHT KIND OF SOUL” and informed them I had not received ANY condiments with my meals
I was told “We don’t put condiments in our meals, if you want them you have to Ask!!”
REALLY !!! I purchased 2 seafood soul food meals and I needed to ask for condiments which in my opinion should have automatically been placed in my bags. Disappointed in such a poor store policy!!!
