I am genuinely grateful that Jimmy Buff’s Italian Hot Dogs is back up and running and that it still carries that same old-fashioned flavor and spirit.
I used to buy the potato sandwich here when it was just 50 cents. My first kiss happened in the telephone booth that used to be on the corner (they really should’ve kept that). I went to school across the street many moons ago, back when it was called 14th Avenue, with the spinning playground equipment and those metal monkey bars kids don’t see anymore.
Coming back here feels like stepping into a time capsule.
The food tastes the same comforting, familiar, and done right. I still ask them to drain the oil, just like always, and they know exactly what I mean. Some things don’t need changing.
This place is more than a restaurant. It’s history. It’s memory. It’s community.
The World’s First Italian Hot Dog isn’t just a slogan it’s real, and you feel it the moment you walk in. I’m thankful this place is still standing, still serving, and still rooted in the neighborhood that made it what it is.

I grew up eating from here with my mom, and it is one of the few places I remember from my childhood that is still going. I visited here yesterday for the first time since the makeover, and I really like the new look. Not only that, the service was awesome! We had the steak and cheese it was very tasteless and dry two slices of steak um meats “not chopped up” with the overflow of potatoes that where hard and not flavorful the same with the Italian sausage it was more like brown n serve sausage/unity link in which you could barely taste because it so smothered in unseasoned potatoes…. Maybe I came on the wrong day idk but wasn’t good at all.

The store was very clean, the owner was pleasant and I love my double Italian hot dog with everything and I love the potatoes that are on top. I have tried other options on the menu before. Each time I went I bought a different friend who’s never been there and they also love their order

This was my late father’s favorite spot for years and now it’s mines. My husband’s a Brooklyn native loves the customer service and the food. I hope this restaurant stay around for a very long time.
