I love this place! The roast beef po-boy and muffuletta are my favorites. Shrimp and fried chicken are some of my go to’s if I want something different. If I get a dinner I usually get the butter beans, red beans or pork chop, all very good with huge portions. Consistently delicious. Parking is a little tight between 12-2 but I usually just park across the street. Nice family welcoming vibe.

This wonderful World Deli is small, but carries wonderful jars of olives, pickled onions and asparagus, pasta, and others too many to list. Our muffalettas were stuffed with meats and cheese and not too thick bread—just perfect!

What happened to this place? I’ve been coming here for close to a decade ordering the same thing every time. I always get the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and veg. We moved out of town for about 2 years and recently came back. I was so excited to go to world deli and order my favorite. I called and placed the order. I even got two dinners because I wanted to have an extra to share with my mom. It was just that good! When I got in the car I opened the containers to see the delicacy. The smell instantly hit my face. It smelled sour …like spoiled chicken. I knew instantly that the meat was not good. The breading looked different as well. The normally Brown delicious breading was light-colored and different. Even the gravy look different. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and not as delicious as they had been for the last 10 years. I was sadly disappointed. The chicken was so inedible I had to bring it back and return both dinners. I am thankful they gave me my money back.
I will say that in the past I usually have gone during the day around lunch time. This time it was at dinner time. A young man helped me and he seemed to be the manager type. Not sure if he is new or inherited the business or what not, but I have seen from other reviews that some things are different. It’s a shame because this place has a lot of loyal customers and most of those customers want what they’ve had for years and that’s what makes them come back over and over again . Somehow I feel as if the good days here are over with .Goodbye World Deli!

Really disappointed…ordered the Wednesday breaded pork chop with macaroni and sweet potatoes and had it ‘to go’. Never again! Should have checked it in the parking lot but instead got home and was appalled they let this go out of their restaurant like this: both breaded chops were burnt, flat as a pancake and no taste except the burntness – could hardly chew it. The macaroni bland – no seasoning. The sweet potatoes were more of a fruit salad, like an ice-cream-scoop of yams with raisins, pineapple and marshmallows and again, bland. Called and told them, wanted to comp me – I won’t be back.

Hole in the wall. $20 for a small corned beef Po Boy and small soda. Unbelievably they charged 50 cents extra for a fully dressed Po Boy which I’ve never seen in any other restaurant in the 50 years I’ve been here. Rude, robotic staff. Steer clear of this rip off restaurant my friends.

Excellent food, but I feel like they don’t like people who are not like them. They skimpy with their sauce on the meatballs and spaghetti.

Don’t order a panini. 1st, it’s not on panini bread, just white toast. $13 for a barely toasted white bread sandwich is expensive IMO since it didn’t come with chips or a side. Service was fine and it’s a cute, clean place. Other food that went by looked much better. It was my 1st time here and I guess just ordered the wrong thing.

I love it! I came here for the first time in the late ’90s. It’s so nice to have a local deli still going strong. Today I had the sandwich plate. New Orleanians love quartered deli sandwiches on white bread and today I had the triple decker Club. This sandwich is perfect if you’re undecided on lunch. “Should I eat something heavy now or just get something light?” “What can I get besides a salad?” This is the typical worker’s quandary. I’d suggest moving past the veal parm sub and muffuletta and try either the turkey with pepper jelly panini or the triple decker club. Eat half and put the rest in the fridge at work for lunch tomorrow. Here’s a tip for the out-of-towner: If you’re in N.O. on business and stuck in a hotel for a week, you can get home-cooked meals at World to heat in your microwave at the hotel. Try the red beans and rice (Monday special, of course) or the butter beans with rice and a link of sausage on Wednesday. The plates come with a little side of bread and if you add a slice of rum cake, you’re all set for an evening of work in the hotel (especially if it’s raining.)

They’re not very friendly. Not rude, just standoffish.
My panini wasn’t a traditional panini; just a sandwich on regular toasted bread. It was very good though. Portions are large and quality is good. I’d go back.
