We visit Workers Tavern any time we are in Astoria. Usually, we pop in just for beverages, but this time we ordered the crab mac & cheese and it hit the spot. The staff is friendly and we love the atmosphere. One of our favorite spots on the coast!

I stopped in around 10pm on a Sunday. It wasn’t busy, but not empty either. The bartender was very pleasant and quick to serve.
Mac and cheese (no meat) was quick and pretty with tasty pickled veggies and a crustini. Great portion for the price, however not so creamy.
The inside is comfortable, but the patio is the star of the show.
I would go here regularly if I was a local.

We were pulled in by the “breakfast all day” sign. I was a little put off by the day drinkers inside, but the back patio was empty and charming so we took a chance and were glad we did. I had a very good BLT with a generous serving of tater tots. Hub had eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. The blonde female server was especially friendly. She warned us up front she was working alone so we would need to order at the bar, but she was very competent and accommodating and made us a great meal. So glad we made the stop!

My travel partner and I stopped for a meal and a coupla drinks based on the reviews. It was a Thursday, maybe seven. The place was full but not packed; I cannot imagine the weekends! The reviews were spot-on. Food was very basic and very very good… I think the dishes may be largely ‘heritage dishes’. Prices were moderate, but we were in one of those magical places in the world. I am so disappointed in ‘kids these days’ as the outdoor space / venue was virtually empty, stunning, homey, and lovely. Sniff. Where are the smokers? LOL. They had an old friend in residence; a jukebox dialed in perfectly to the crowd. It was, to repeat, magical. Thank you, owners and staff. You nailed it here!

Walked in and sat ourselves because ABSOLUTELY noone that worked there greeted us, much less made eye contact with us. Thank you to the lady that smiled and spoke to me when I asked her if her table was available.
Sat and eventually got the menu myself, from the front of the bar, while the bartender stood there looking down. He never said a word. You’d think that getting a menu would indicate that someone’s going to spend a few bucks in your establishment and that should be motivation enough to be professional right? One can only hope. We weren’t going to dine and dash. It was bingo night and every head turned when we walked in…
Anyway, thank you for letting us sit for 20 undisturbed minutes catching up on the history of Workers Tavern and watching the staff not look at us.
Worst reception and service we experienced during our stay in Astoria.
PS: Bartender had the audacity to thank me when I returned the menus. “Stupid is as stupid does.”

In response: to the alleged owner, read and understand before responding. We weren’t greeted, and I stood in front of your bartender, with menus in hand, and he never made eye contact. Also, we sat in the right rear of the bar and watched your staff walk by without making eye contact and/or speaking multiple times.
Interesting, you know exactly how many people were being served, at the time of our visit, but can’t manage to find a way to greet, hire more staff, and/or train your staff, for 2 more people?
Take the “L” and do better

I was staying at the hotel right across the street for the weekend and I came in on a Friday night. Not very busy, so I enjoyed two beers and chatting with the Bartender. She was really sweet!

I had a good time that I was back at this tavern every night during the weekend vacation. I came in for breakfast and it was very good, cheap and filling.

The outside back has a huge space to drink and relax. Their fire pit has never ending bundles of wood, there are lights and music playing back there. I got to meet and chat with people from all over the place. It was a great time. I was told they rent two places within the building for a great deal. One is bigger than the other. Both have their own kitchens! So I might rent one of those next time with friends.

Thank you, service was awesome all weekend!

We were there at opening and it took a while to get our food since the grill was still cold. But the vibe is very historic. It’s definitely a dive bar but the food is amazing. Beware. There are no prices that are accurate on the menus, so don’t be surprised if your total bill ends up being more than what you were anticipating.

Within walking distance from the marina and right under the 101 bridge. This is a cool place to hang out. We had dinner and enjoyed it so much we came back for breakfast the next day, though they do serve breakfast all day. The outdoor seating area is a plus.

This is a great local bar with good food and drink. There are all kinds of food with something for almost everyone. There’s also a fun outdoor area with a fire pit.

Please do yourself a favor and order the hush puppies. They are ridiculously good. Everything that I’ve seen come out of their kitchen is excellent. The fried food somehow comes out perfect every time.

And definitely order yourself a yucca to drink and have someone else drive. They pack a punch!
