I want to give a 5 stars . 1st I wish they kept the vintage look inside. 2nd they should add more cashiers. We waited for a while . They were a lot of people waiting in line took us close to 30 min. Good thing the food came out fast.. The burger was good and fries is crunchy. The Albondigas soup and salad was also good. There is a lot of tables to set. I will come back again.

Stopped by the Woolworth building last weekend after the recent renovation and—wow—absolutely amazing. They did a fantastic job bringing it back to life while keeping the soul of the place intact. It honestly looks just as good as it did back in the day.

The interior updates around the counter preserve the originality, which I really appreciated, and the addition of a bar on the other side is a great touch. There’s plenty of room to sit and eat, plus a dedicated historic area where you can actually see and appreciate the building’s history. Even the exterior details were handled well, with the Woolworth name still proudly displayed alongside the new tenant.

It’s great to see this kind of thoughtful restoration and to see downtown Bakersfield making a real comeback. Definitely worth stopping by.

So delicious! I had high expectations and the team at Woolworths surpassed them. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, especially Jayden, on his first day! Elvis made one of the best Reubens we’ve ever had, and the seasoning on the fries was fantastic! Can’t wait to pass through Bakersfield again!

You have to explore nostalgia of a lost era. Restored and updated Woolworth diner is a fun place to enjoy lunch in downtown bakersfield. I had the albondigas soup. It was so good. Get the bowl you won’t regret it!

It was really nice to see how much work went into the renovation of the Woolworth store/diner. It is a much friendlier atmosphere then before. It has the modern open air feeling, but with the unique luncheonette experience. The food was really good. Our group had the Carrot & Ginger soup, shakes, burgers, and grilled cheese sandwiches. The customer service is outstanding. I hope this continues. My mom was visiting from the east coast, and was very excited to come here and you didn’t disappoint. Thank you for a great lunch. We’ll be back for the Reverb coffee and the diner!

The place looks great, and the employees were very nice. Sadly, the food was mostly disappointing. The burger was really good, and the fries were good, except they were cold. The sauce that comes with the fries was very good. The grilled cheese sandwich was a joke. It was also cold, so the cheese was not melted. And there was not enough cheese for how thick the bread was. There were also no substitutions, add-ons, or removal of any of the ingredients allowed on any of the food. So the whole add-on section of the menu was pointless, since I’m seeing other reviewers saying the same.

The owners have done an amazing job of restoring–actually rebuilding–the old Woolworth’s diner. It is an awesome step back for many of us who grew up with Woolworth’s. The retro look and feel is perfect, and the staff is cheerful, helpful, and friendly. The food is great and prices more than fair. The diner is now a must-do stop for me every time I’m in the area.

Stopped by yesterday afternoon between lunch and dinner and it was absolutely amazing! It was the perfect time to go! (It was busy when we got there but emptied out as we were finishing up, so got some photos) The burger was delicious. The Martins potato buns and the Woolies sauce were a perfect touch, oh and that black cherry, tarragon soda! The building was restored beautifully to its original beauty. Thank you so much for all the hard work that has gone into this, for all of us to enjoy. So nostalgic from my childhood. I will be back the next time I’m up visiting Bakersfield. How can I forget to mention the employees. Everybody was friendly, especially the cashier.

Cold food
No substitutions even if you wanted to remove an item off of a burger
The soda machine had no ice
Near the soda machine they have a condiment area with napkins but no ketchup was available until we asked and they had to replenish the area. Crumbs were all over the place, many tables were dirty. Staff wasn’t very friendly asked for ranch as a staff member dropped of our food he said no ranch, wasn’t sure if he meant out of stock or they don’t carry. I definitely wouldn’t come back and I’m not sure why they hyed up the re opening as it was very disappointing. Food was not good at all.

Wife and I sat at the bar where the bartender Jody was genuinely friendly. She was fun to talk to and she made us feel welcomed. They have a few beers on tap and some wine. We enjoyed a couple glasses of Mind Haze. For food, my wife and I had the double cheeseburger and shared a large order of fries. Burger was delicious and very basic, in a good way. Kind of like the old days. Just meat, cheese, pickles, caramelized onions and sauce. Meat patties had good seasoning and flavor. The fries are seasoned perfectly. If you want a fancy burger, this isn’t the place. If you want a juicy, flavorful, simple burger like the old diner days, this is the place.
