What an awesome dinner! Went in kind of late on a Friday night, but still was greeted with a smile and plenty of food to keep me busy! Best beans I’ve ever had! Burnt ends wereeeee amaaaaazing. Free cornbread. I was in heaven. Go try it, it’s well worth it.

So much potential. Admittedly, there is construction throughout the are and I stopped in at 3:00. But. When you are an award winning BBQ joint you need to level up for all customers. The pork was over cooked and dry, the brisket was over cooked and dry, and the ribs were over cooked. The beans and cornbread were above average and the cheesy potatoes were the star of the show. I’ll swing in again and change my review if it is deservedly so.

Loved it. The look of it, the smell and the fabulous service. I had salmon and brisket. How often does a BBQ shack have salmon? Super cool.
I WISH I had noticed the giant pan of cornbread and had some. But I didn’t see it. I had cheesy potatoes and cucumbers and onions, both of which were excellent.
Worth it.

Best BBQ burnt ends I’ve ever had, sauce is thick rich sweet and tangy, cheesy taters were good, plus dont forget the free cornbread on the cabinet by the door, can take with you, catering, no free WiFi though…

The Food: I had higher hopes for Smokey flavors but over all everything was good. I really enjoyed the ribs and green beans. Just a heads up the complimentary cornbread has a light coating of sugar, just enough for a crunch but not enough for it to bee too sweat.
Cleanliness: Everything we used was disposable and clean. We sat outside with flies and bees. Another group was so irritated they complained and the guy confirmed that it’s been bad this year and placed some honey away from the tables to help.
Service: I could easily complain about the service but it was only one visit and one person. Overall service was good.

Small bbq joint just south of Drake University. Very popular with students and locals. Does support Grub hub. Menu written on blackboard. Corn bread is self service.

Family owned atmosphere, great food selection. Ribs are tender and sweet. Other meats are good. Some sides are not as good as others. Stick to the Mac and cheese and hot sweet apples. The bottomless cornbread is a nice touch and the cornbread is very good I usually end up having 4-6 squares every time. Good local BBQ I eat here very often.

Great barbecue and amazing jambalaya. We usually get the meal for 2-4 for my family of four, and it’s plenty for us. Everyone gets a meat they want or gets a bit of all of them. We are never disappointed. The staff is very friendly and patient as we try to decide on sides. We love their corn bread, too. I would recommend it to anyone who likes barbecue.

Despite the name, their brisket could have easily been made in the oven. The atmosphere is great. Not much room inside but a cozy little place. They have sunshades over outdoor seating which is nice. But if you’re looking for great BBQ, you can definitely do better in Des Moines.
