We took three generations of the family here tonight while we are on a nice vacation in Ayer’s Cliff (what a beautiful area!). We are not familiar with this part of Canada and decided we wanted to try some thing local and casual. Well, we found the right place! This is a relaxed combo of restaurant and ice cream window and we sat inside and ordered off the menu.
The food was delicious and served with exactly zero fuss or muss. Our food came freshly made to order wrapped in paper or in a box. We had a variety of beef, chicken and veggie burgers which everyone inhaled. The classic poutine was amazing. I want you to read that again. Amazing. The potatoes really stood out at first. There is clearly some special attention being paid to them. For anyone with fry experience at Five Guys, I found them very similarily delicious. They were exceptional in my opinion. The curds and gravy put it over the top and just made for the perfect bite every time. I think my son literally licked the last bit of gravy out of the bowl!
Our waitress was really nice and friendly and made us feel welcome as tourists. We basically spent 10 dollars Canadian per person. That’s a great value if you ask me.
Kudos to the owners and staff!

Literally drove 2 hours one-way to go here. Poutine is worth. Rich sauce, great fries and cheese curds that were made that morning. Dont get better than that.
Also its cheap, 21 bucks for 2 toasted, a small poutine, burger and drink ain’t bad.

1 star because of the slowness of the service. It took us 45+ mins to get two burgers, salad and a poutine. There were only 5 people ahead of us. Gravy and fries were lukewarm. Probably the weakest service + poutine from a casse-croute in Quebec I’ve had in 10+ years.
Please a restaurant ordering system.

Wow! For just $27 (tax and tip included), I got a slice of pizza, a cheese & bacon burger, and a kids’ burger combo. That’s an unbeatable price, especially anywhere near Montreal. The food was solid, the service was quick, and there’s lots of outdoor seating plus a playground for the kids. Overall, a great spot that I’d definitely recommend. Just a heads-up: they don’t accept credit cards..

We stayed in Ayers Cliff for two weeks and found ourselves coming back to Wood Snack Bar more than once — a pleasant surprise! The food is fresh, clearly made with care, and the prices are very reasonable. What really elevated the experience was the staff: kind, attentive, and genuinely sweet. Their warmth definitely contributed to our positive impression of both the restaurant and the town. A cozy local spot that’s worth a stop (or a few!).

The food was amazing and our server Debbie went above and beyond to make us feel like we were at home. Love this place and suggested to anybody who’s in the area.

Food was okay. The French Fries are different this year, maybe the oil? We started out with a nice waitress and when we finished our meal another waitress came over, only spoke French, and didn’t even understand an icecream order in English.
My advice is to go at an off hour, less busy. By the time we left at 4:30 pm there was a waiting line to sit down.
