Food was good. I only provided a 4 star because it did not knock my socks off. Those are 5 stars. The customer service was amazing. The ladies behind the counter were awesome. The atmosphere was very nice, clean, and fit the food well. I definitely will put it on my list to visit again. My sandwich was so large I had issues getting it in my mouth sometimes. Very much worth the price.

The Woodpile sandwich: pulled pork, brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage and candied bacon.
Although this is a must have on any barbecue place menu and all of the meals were flavorful, there were a couple of things I would do differently. The pork was a little dry and there was hardly any brisket or candied bacon on it. The portion of pulled pork and sausage was perfect! Also, one of the better sausages I have had!
The service was hit and miss. The one girl behind the bar literally ignored everyone. The other girl, Mel, was very nice, just seemed a little inexperienced (maybe just shy). She got slammed and had to ask the other girl for help to grab the couple that just sat down on the end, after another group sat down next to me. When the other girl went to take their order, she was obviously not thrilled she had to talk to anybody. The hostess, just like Mel, was pleasant. There was another server/runner, but I had no interaction with her.
The atmosphere was nice and laid back. Also, there is a decent beer selection. I will return at some point, as almost all of the time I give places more than one try.
This is not a bad review by any means, as it would be one or two stars. It is a cool place, just needs a few tweaks. Would recommend.

I went to woodpile yesterday for the first time in a few years, and I need to ask what happened. I remember the food being cooked properly. This time I got brisket that not only was not tender and juicy, it was even difficult to cut with a knife, the collard greens were bland, and my wife’s ribs were not as tender as should be for proper bbq. Also the smallest portions I have ever gotten at a bbq restaurant. On the plus side, service was friendly, and the beans were good.

My family orders from here often. Sadly this will be the last time. The past couple of times I’ve ordered, my food it has been cold like it was just pulled out of the fridge. A few days ago I spent almost $70 on food for my family. One order consisted of 3 brisket sliders. The meat was cold and the buns were soggy. I also ordered the candy bacon and it wasn’t even cooked. It was completely raw and cold, it wasn’t even crispy what so ever. I called and spoke with a manager and she apologized and stated that’s how the owners want to bacon “cooked” because the oven has been burning the bacon. So you mean to tell me your cooks that make the food don’t know how to cook bacon without burning it? Sounds like they need new staff and management.

Came here for the first time with my family after a friend of mine at work had let me taste their “burnt ends” and it was really good. We were excited to try something outside of the typical norm (pizza, chicken, burgers etc). However, was displeased with our experience and we drove about 20 minutes from home to try it. Spent $90 for a family of 4 to each have a meal and some sides. Our food was served with in 10 minutes, but with the expense of everything being cold or at best warm. I got the burnt ends, sweet mashed and Mac and cheese. The burnt ends were cold, the Mac and cheese and potatoes had spots of warm and cold which made me think they were just reheated. The burnt ends are good the first few bites and then became a little too much to finish like beef jerky. Also tasted like beef jerky. The sweet mash is missing some ingredients and needs some butter and brown sugar. My family all liked the Mac and cheese including the BBQ Mac which is probably their best dish. My fiance’ got the pulled chicken sandwich which comes with coleslaw on it. Both the chicken and coleslaw was dry. He had to add BBQ sauce to it. The best things were the Mac and cheese, corn bread and banana pudding was really good. Which we added another $12 to our meal getting 2 banana puddings. For a meal over $100 plus tip…we expected more. Probably won’t be back. The atmosphere is great with a nice vibe of logs and lights all around…seems perfect to come to for maybe a night out and a few drinks, but even on a Friday they close at 9pm. If their food isn’t going to be great they sure are missing out on money closing so early for the adult crowd on the weekends. The guy that took our order and then served our food was really nice. This place has potential to be great if they upped the quality of food and utilized the nice space they have for later hours on weekends. Might swing by just for banana pudding and corn bread as that’s really the only things good they have. We ate outside on the patio and it was nice. As soon as we entered the parking lot to get to our car…the parking lot was infested with gnats. They got all over us and our car. The whole way home we were swatting gnats off us that stuck to our clothes. Need to invest in some bug treatment for their parking lot.

Excellent barbecue. It was a late evening when my wife and I stopped in for dinner. We hadn’t been here before so the their dining experience was new to us. The severs were very patient and polite. Basically Woodpile is a fast food barbecue. Whereas you order your food and drinks at the counter, you sit down and a server brings your food. We had the brisket, the ribs, mac and cheese, cole slaw, cornbread and literally the best collard greens we ever had. The food was served quick, hot and delicious. They have a full bar with great beer and cocktails. (No wine, though. Unfortunately) The atmosphere was cozy. We had a very nice dinner. Definitely coming back.

The pitmaster plater was good but the bbq brisket pizza was 10/10 must try. Only down fall the pulled chicken and pulled pork was a little on the cold side but was still good food over all Will definitely be back when Im in town again!!

Great BBQ and sides and sandwiches! Friendly staff and accurate online orders. I’ll definitely visit here again! Seems like a nice dine in option too, I’ve only done pickup orders but will have to check it out.

We had Woodpile BBQ out of Madison Heights cater our wedding this past weekend. I have been receiving RAVING reviews for the food at the wedding. I’ve handed out their contact info to a few of my guests even. It was delicious. The food was delivered several hours away to our venue and was hot and presented very well. The burnt ends were the highlight of the food conversation. The head of the catering office; Kelly was very pleasant to work with. She was knowledgeable with how much food for person was necessary as we had nearly 200 people. Overall, I would recommend this business as the perfect company to cater any event you have.

Let me start this of by saying the service we received from Jill was fantastic. She’s super friendly and a great asset to your business.
But guys…. come on… the food was awful.
We ordered 2 combo plates trying different meats and sides. The food was not even lukewarm, dry and totally not worthy of the over $50 we paid. The pulled chicken was dry. The sausage seemed like it had been cooked days before. There was no meat on the ribs and the coleslaw was dry as heck.
We were so excited to try this place out but so disappointed in what we got. We both ranked it a 4/10. This was at 6pm. Prime dinner hour… not like 5 minutes before closing.
