We were so happy with Woodbelly and all the options for food and drinks they offered for our summer wedding of 80 people. The cocktail hour appetizers were delicious, beautifully presented, and all local product. The bar staff were fun, friendly, professional, and kept the drinks flowing all night. And the pizza — absolutely perfect!! The multiple varieties including vegan and gluten free were all tasty, and our guests can’t stop talking about our wedding food! I would also recommend not forgetting to order late-night snacks, we had left over pizza and fresh mac n cheese. The only small challenge we had was with communication during the planning process. While the team always replied and made sure our questions were answered, responses were sometimes delayed, and it would have been great for communication to be a bit quicker and more streamlined. That said, everything came together perfectly on the big day, which is the most important part. We’re so grateful for their hard work in making our celebration so memorable!

Excellent pizza and a delightful sour beer from a local microbrewery. The sourdough crust was crispy without being charred or overcooked and the variety of slices was enough to satisfy our diverse preferences. Leftovers from our whole pie were gobbled up the next morning and my kids consistently rank it as the best pizza in Montpelier.

Pinball machine in the back is a wonderful addition and we will be coming back for more.

We recently had Woodbelly cater for our 150+ person wedding and they were fantastic! We chose them not only for their delicious pizza (including GF and DF versions) but also for their inclusive values, and would highly recommend. We had pizza and salad over the course of 2 hours and our guests were delighted. We also appreciated the coordination and effort put into making sure our guests with dietary restrictions were well taken care of!

This place is amazing. The staff is cool, it is for sure the best pizza I’ve ever had (seriously, these folks care about pizza), and the vibes are immaculate. I feel like people forget that when you go out to eat, you’re going out to experience what that particular establishment does, not what you want them to do. I see that reading some of these bad reviews so keep that in mind. I also love what this place stands for and the business model of worker ownership that they’re striving for. This place is seriously just all-around amazing,I couldn’t recommend it more.

This place used to be pretty good before they became a restaurant (when they made pizza at the local farmers market). As a restaurant they never got their footing.

It’s probably one of the worst managed restaurants in town, and as a result they’re now closed. Yet they still have hours listed on Google indicating they’re open. Go figure.

They also burn a TON of wood and fill the air with soot and smoke as none of their ovens have filters. (Not environmentally conscious.)

One of their former owners, Dave, used to have his dogs running around the kitchen and dining room. (Not sanitary.)

Vermont is full of Trustafarian owned places with high ideals and poor execution. This is one such example.

They’re supposed to be moving this restaurant to Middlesex. Good riddance.

We hired the Woodbelly team to cater our wedding at the iconic Sleepy Hollow Farm in Woodstock, VT. As soon as my fiance and I walked into the Woodbelly shop for our tasting in Montpelier, we almost immediately knew we would want to work with them this summer. BLM artwork litters the walls, there’s a sign that says “trans people eat free” under the register and Hailey greets you with the warmest smile from behind the counter!

Then…we tried the food. Nothing could have prepared us for how absolutely delicious everything was! And its not just their pizza thats mind-blowing, so are their vegetarian and chicken dishes. Hailey’s service was wonderful, she (and her sweet daugther!) even did a site visit before the wedding to give us advice on where her team should set up, and what makes the most sense for rental planning. She was extremely accommodating to our vegan diet, as well and provided gluten-free alternatives for our guests. My parents mentioned “faine” aka “farinata,” because we eat that with our pizza in our home-country of Argentina, and Hailey offered to learn the recipe and make it for us at the wedding. Thats how thoughtful she is!

We ordered:
– grazing table full of local cheese and meats
– maple seared scallops
– fish cakes
-farinata
-green salad with seasonal veg
-maple braised chicken thighs and drumsticks
-quinoa & bean stuffed squash
-pizza buffet with vegan cheese and GF crust options
-peach & blueberry cobbler

At the wedding, no one could stop talking about how incredible the food was, and how absolutely lovely Hailey and her staff are. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you and your team for making this happen!

Don’t have photos to share yet (photos are yet to arrive from the photographer) but will leave you with this one of the bride getting her hands messy in some pizza 🙂

I am from Brooklyn NY, Home of wildly good pizza. My granddaughter lives on Barre St and she was getting married. Somehow I ended up alone, and hungry. I am asking myself what to eat. As I was driving down Barre Street I noticed a sign Woodbelly Pizza. I had not been in VT for several years and did not know this pizza place existed. I got down to main street and sat there thinking if I should turn around and give it a try. I made it back to their parking lot and started into their place. I am pretty old and I look like I am about to take a tumble. A wonderful lady sitting at an outdoor table jumped up and helped me in. I was a bit disoriented. There was a wood fire oven staring me in the face. I could smell the pizza. One of the staff told me where to order and I was met by a lovely lady who helped me order. We engaged in conversation about Woodbelly and it’s journey. It was so pleasant. I was wearing a Rosary and we conversed about that. Being a Thursday evening and pretty late, there were no immediate customers. By the time my pizza was cooked we had enjoyed a few wonderful moments. This is a really good place. It is thin crust pizza cooked to perfection. I was so happy a ventured into Woodbelly. I am posting one picture… That says it all. And no, I could not finish the whole pizza, which my great grandson was happy for. Thanks for a wonderful experience. Vermont rarely lets you down.

Food + Drinks + Art + Enchantment (oh and sometimes live music too).

The pizza is creative and delicious.
They have a well stocked bar.
The art is mesmerizing.
And just because you can get spirited away finding all the pizza-themed Ghibli-hide-and-seek photos hidden throughout the place. Very glad to have woodbelly in the world.
