Wonderful food! As someone from Hong Kong, this place feels like home. Huge wonton and very tasty tender beef brisket. Happy to find a newly added item of curry fishball, recall a lot of happy childhood memory.

The background canton pop music is a great plus!

Very strong urine smell the day when we were there. Once the wonton and the curry fish balls were served, the urine smell was gone.

Wonton noodle soup 4.5/5 – not skimpy with the shrimp filling. Tasty.
Dumplings noodle soup 4.5/5 – tasty as well.
Curry fish balls 5/5***try it! – authentic. Just like how I remembered when I was younger.

There’s parking at the back of the establishment as well. There’s a door to the restaurant at the front parking and a door to the restaurant at the back parking.

Hearty and super comforting—rich, clear beefy broth with chewy noodles, tender beef, and big silky wontons that make the bowl feel loaded. The curry fish balls on the side were bouncy and flavorful with a mild kick, making the whole meal even more satisfying. Also using the curry fish ball as the palette cleanser to eat the noodles with the soup as if I was taking the first bite again.

Delicious, comforting noodle soups! The beef noodle had a rich, flavorful broth with tender beef and springy noodles. The wonton noodle soup was light yet satisfying, with juicy wontons and fresh greens. The fish ball noodles were refreshing, with bouncy fish balls and crisp lettuce in a clean broth. Each bowl was served hot and perfectly seasoned. Cozy spot, generous portions, and great quality — perfect for a comforting meal!

What an amazing find in Edison. The wonton guy is a hidden gem. The noodles and wonton are one of the best in have had. I was expecting a traditional wonton, was pleasantly surprised with Shrimp wonton that were super fresh and tasty. Wonton Guy is the best, we had a nice Rutgers Football talk while everything was being prepared. Parking is tight. Cant wait to go back.

First time here. Came right when they opened, was seated immediately and given hot tea. I ordered the A1 Shrimp Wontons with Egg noodles and topped it with brisket. I liked the shrimp wontons, but the brisket stole the show. Had a great slightly sweet meaty flavor to it, and it was reflected in the broth. We never had to wait for a refill of tea and service was fast and excellent. The chili crunch oil on the table was the spiciest I have ever had at a restaurant! Tasted great but had to use less as I was breaking out into a sweat!
Great food, great service. Looking forward to coming back!

I passed by this wonton place so many times, until today I just realized that I had missed the most delicious wonton soup for so long! The shrimp wonton is huge with 3 whole shrimps in every wonton! Their beef brisket is so delicious along with the chewy egg noodles!

It’s like we stepped into a Hong Kong noodle shop as soon as we walked in. The decor, the music and the food were 10/10. The shrimp wontons are huge and egg noodles are super bouncy. Two side dishes we ordered were the tomato chili pork over a bed of lettuce and the curry fish balls. Both were very good and worth ordering if you’re hungry. Food tasted very authentic. Service was very friendly and food came out very quick. We will definitely be back!!

Hong Kong is one of the world’s truly cosmopolitan cities, having its roots as a British colony and a major port of trade. Its cuisine was influenced by the Cantonese culture that is present in the region, as well as Thailand and other Southeast Asian cultures. They are all about harmony, bringing together different flavors, and being bold and complex, with a focus on fresh seafood and savory sauces.

Located on Route 27 off of Plainfield Avenue in Edison with a large Asian immigrant neighborhood, Wonton Guy is not Chinese-American food but authentic Hong Kong street food that was just voted one of the top 10 restaurants, where I came for lunch at this Elite event, All Things Cozy, thanks to Katarina and the Yelp team.

Upon entering from my visit last year, I was greeted by the staff and got a small table right away inside a cozy, clean, sparse dining area with about 10 tables, an open kitchen, and one full wall showing the bright lights of Kowloon in Hong Kong at night.

The menu features wontons in a soup or just noodles with soup on the side (lo mein). Traditionally, wonton 餛飩, which translates to “cloud swallow,” are served in a soup broth and have a thinner, silkier wrapper.

I decided on A7, the Two Toppings with Noodle in a Soup comprising shrimp wontons (雲吞), beef briskets (牛腩), adding vegetables (牛腩). For takeout, I opted for the Sliced Beef Lo Mein 牛肉撈麵.

The wontons were generously sized—one was as big as two regular ones—and stuffed with shrimp and pork, making them hearty and satisfying. The broth was fresh and flavorful, clearly made with care.

Service was quick, with everything arriving piping hot within minutes, and staff was friendly.

Though Hong Kong’s cuisine is ever evolving, its history is very much alive at the dinner table. Bring your appetite!
