Tried this new Cantonese restaurant today and it was amazing! The food tastes just like my hometown. The veggies were super fresh, the curry fish balls were flavorful and bouncy, and the claypot rice was perfect with fragrant rice and crispy bits at the bottom. Everything was fresh and well seasoned.
Definitely coming back! ✨

This is a pretty good Hong Kong style restaurant. The butter french toast was soo good. The baked rice took a while to prep but was delicious.

I walked in here unexpectedly and was quite surprised by the hospitality. The waiters are super sweet and the food and soup is authentic to China’s southern cuisine, reminding me a lot of my mom’s cooking. When I asked about the manager, they have two managers from China and Taiwan. They also make their own pineapple buns in-house! The portions are definitely filling. We ordered one salted fish claypot and was told that I could mix two different proteins into it, so we added braised beef into it.

Staffs were nice. I’ve tried fried flat noodles with beef and satay beef noodles in the pot. It was yummy. But lemon tea was too light for me. I would like richer taste of tea.

I love HK-style cafés, and this place really hits the spot. The food is tasty, the vibes feel nostalgic, and the service is solid. The menu is a great size- one double-sided page plus a drinks menu- so it’s easy to order without feeling overwhelmed.

I’ve been here twice so far, and both times the food delivered. For one visit, I had the claypot rice with black bean spare ribs- the ribs were tender and full of flavor, and the rice was especially delicious. Just a heads-up that claypot rice dishes take about 20 – 25 minutes, but that just means they’re made fresh.

Some dishes let you swap out noodles, so definitely keep an eye out for that when ordering. They also have a fresh roasted section with items like duck and char siu- the duck is especially delicious.

Service is straightforward and efficient. Don’t expect a lot of small talk- they take your order, keep your water filled, and keep things moving, which feels very true to an HK café.

I’ll definitely be back!

I had a very bad experience at Wonderful Cafe.

I ordered the baked pork chop spaghetti. Normally, this dish comes with tomato sauce, which is the standard version everywhere. However, when my food arrived after waiting over 30 minutes, it was served with white sauce instead. The entire baked spaghetti was completely white. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture.

I asked the waitress who took my order whether this was their original baked pork chop spaghetti. She told me yes and said, “Our baked pork chop comes with white sauce.” At that point, I didn’t want to argue. I was already very hungry after the long wait, so I just ate the food.

When I was about to leave, I saw a waiter bring baked pork chop spaghetti to the table next to us- and it clearly came with tomato sauce. I waved the waiter over and asked why the waitress was not honest with us. The waiter said he just works there and mentioned that the restaurant is newly opened and everything is a mess.

I understand a new restaurant can have issues, but lying to customers is not acceptable. If there was a mistake, they should have been honest about it.

If possible, I would give this restaurant zero stars. I will also be telling my East Bay friends not to visit this place.
