We had a wonderful time exploring the bar area of this local spot! The atmosphere is fantastic, and the bartender was incredibly kind and welcoming, which really made our evening. It’s clear this place has a lot of history and charm.
While it was a high energy Valentine’s night with a busy holiday rush, the bar service truly shined. For those who love a true rare steak, they definitely won’t shy away from a bold sear here! It’s a classic Wisconsin landmark with great vibes…perfect for a night out centered around the bar and the friendly staff there. Definitely recommending giving the steaks a try

Absolutely horrible. Our waitress Jamie smelled like she didn’t shower in days. It took 30+ minutes for them to even realize we were there and another table actually pointed us out to them. We weren’t offered our dessert nor champagne that came with the meal on valentine’s, and the waitress threw a bit of a fit when it came to refunding the salad bar (which the menu said was a thing if we didn’t want it) and offered to let us get it to go AFTER we got our food. The salad bar was basically bare and the plates were out for over an hour. We sat there for 2.5 hours eith a VERY impatient toddler. It used to be such a good place. Really not thrilled. The bartender was atleast nice and the bar area was also nice. The steak was WAYYY too raw even for my husband who LOVES very rare steak. I do NOT advise dining there, especially with kids.

Ordered to go because I was feeling under the weather. I did order my prime rib rare however after my 2 mile drive home it was completely cold all the way through for a $125 bill I can’t believe I was served cold meat that doesn’t look like it has been cooked at all, almost no flavor even on the outside. I grew up loving this place and am very disappointed with how downhill it has gone.

Sat down at 5:20, waited six minutes before leaving. Not even an acknowledgment that we were waiting. Sign says to seat yourself. Three other tables of two. Two waitresses. While we waited, two tables had dishes cleared, one had bill presented, one had orders served and a second table had trip for sauce. Not even a “hi, we’ll be with you in a minute”.
One waitress coughed – like a sick sounding cough. Waitresses looked slovenly – the puke green shirts might be to partly to blame.
We hadn’t been here in years due to awful service and food…I guess same old, same old.
Side note: The atmosphere seems great, quiet (of course it will be if no one can get served), beautiful views and love the ambience.

My boyfriend and I had such a great Valentine’s date at Wolter’s! It’s that perfect, cozy Wisconsin supper club vibe that you just can’t beat. We started with a few Brandy Old Fashioneds at the bar, and the staff was so welcoming despite it being a busy holiday night.
The Prime Rib was huge and cooked perfectly, and I loved that the salad bar and dessert were included—it’s such a nice classic touch. Sitting right by Pike Lake made the whole night feel extra special and romantic. If you’re looking for a solid, relaxing date spot, this is definitely it. We’ll be back!

My husband and I went to enjoy the German food on their Octoberfest menu. Food was excellent and the German beer went well with the meal.
Our server Jamie was very good, friendly and attentive.
The view was amazing and the atmosphere was enjoyable.
We will definitely go back!

Went out to try something new. Andrea our server was great! The bartender was also lovely and assisted with a wine recommendation. Wine was a very generous pour as well! Food was sub par at best. I had the NY strip with 3 grilled shrimp. Was cooked the way I asked, but was also under seasoned and the mushrooms on it were obviously canned. (Yuck!) my shrimp were lovely! Friend I was with ordered the grilled walleye, you could tell it was a frozen filet and had tons of bones in it.
Won’t be our first choice, but we may try again maybe when they’re busier in the summer and are going through more product.

Bad experience Valentine’s Day poor slow service,disappointing salad bar, undercooked shrimp and baked potato. $ 42 prime rib was served on a cold plate with mystery ?au Jous ? 1/2″ lake in plate. ” Complementary glass of champagne ” was flat warm and served in a plastic highball glass .

Went here for dinner. The service was…not great. We had to seat ourselves and it was about 15 minutes before we even saw A server let alone OUR server. She finally came over and gave us water and took the drink order. She was pretty friendly though at least.
Took another 15 minutes to get two sodas and she took our food order. We both had the soup and salad bar which was mediocre at best. They were pretty much out of soup at 7:30. The lettuce was almost gone but enough for two of us. There were onion slices, cottage cheese, bacon bits, and croutons and that was it. I didn’t have the dinner roll but my boyfriend said it was good.
The food surprisingly didn’t take too long. I had the prime rib. Was it good? Yes it was actually really tasty. Was it worth $40? No. While the flavor was good, it was a lot smaller and tougher than it should have been for that price. My boyfriend had the fish fry and he said that was really good and at $16 it was much more worth the price.
The server brought boxes and the check pretty quickly but only because I flagged her down when she was helping someone else. She left the check and we waited for about 20 more minutes before we gave up and just put cash down and left.
Overall we were pretty disappointed with the experience. The food was good but it was very overpriced and the service was definitely lacking.
